DL Cast Members...Question...
I go on a very popular and well known disney info site and there is a lady posting that if you want to get into Disneyland for free, all you have to do is hang around and find a cast member on their way into work and ask for their free passes for the day, maybe offer them $10-20 for a couple....
Will this work? I am coming for 4 days in August and wouldn't mind hooking up with a CM (not in THAT SENSE...get your mind out of the gutter) and giving him/her some cash for 4 days of passes....
Thoughts?
I seriously can't believe the moderators of the board have let her say this wide open out there....she says this is how she always goes into DL....
So if it is true - castmembers feel free to hook me up and I can put $100 in your hand!

Re: DL Cast Members...Question...
I'm not a cast member but, having seen a lot of posts, I understand that they are allowed a certain number of "sign in" guests, for family and friends, per year or period. I think that selling them could get them into trouble.
Why not just take that money and buy an AP?

Yah I thought that about that lady too....
We only come once a year so its not worth an AP to us right now - but if I could get a cast member to sign us in, and I slipped him some 'lunch money', it would be great.

What follows is for WDW, but I'd be surprised if Disneyland policies were any different:MookieMouse wrote:... if you want to get into Disneyland for free, all you have to do is hang around and find a cast member on their way into work and ask for their free passes for the day, maybe offer them $10-20 for a couple....

Cast Members can get a few people into the park twelve days each calendar year. The number is generally three, unless you have more dependents. We also get four 1-day park hoppers that are clearly marked "Not For Sale".
If you're not related to the CM, the CM is required to accompany you at all times while in the park. If the guests come to the attention of security and the CM is not present, the CM can be in serious trouble including termination.
If you *pay* a CM for the use of this admission procedure, even if you behave yourself, the CM will be disciplined, again possibly including termination.
Being desirous of retaining my discount privileges, if an unknown guest asked me to comp them in, I would immediately turn them in to Security, just in case it was a sting operation.
Florida bans ticket scalping on the premises, this means that can't CMs offer tickets for sale (including legal ones). It also means that guests cannot *solicit* for sale of tickets (including free ones, or ones bartered for lunch or money). This could get you arrested if you don't agree to leave the property at once.
I trust a California CM will chime in soon, but the short version is: don't try this at (Mickey's) home!

Re: DL Cast Members...Question...
CMs can get into a LOT of trouble for selling their passes. Most CMs (that is, nonsalaried) only have a limited number of passes per year anyway - I think last time I worked at WDW it was fourteen admits per year. Each admit is good for 3 people.MookieMouse wrote:I go on a very popular and well known disney info site and there is a lady posting that if you want to get into Disneyland for free, all you have to do is hang around and find a cast member on their way into work and ask for their free passes for the day, maybe offer them $10-20 for a couple....

So yeah, it's really not a good idea.

This sounds just about as unethical as you can get.MookieMouse wrote:I go on a very popular and well known disney info site and there is a lady posting that if you want to get into Disneyland for free, all you have to do is hang around and find a cast member on their way into work and ask for their free passes for the day, maybe offer them $10-20 for a couple....

Re: DL Cast Members...Question...
That is not unheard of. I heard of some CMs selling their "sigh ins" for $50 each. I never did that. If management found out, that CM will get in lots of trouble. they are responsible for what their sign in guests do in the park. If they get in trouble, the CM gets in trouble.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:I think that selling them could get them into trouble.

That is why I take things I see posted on OTHER boards with a grain of salt. (actually a truckload!)MookieMouse wrote:Good to know - I thought the whole thing seemed VERY far fetched!
The best source of information about WDW or DLR is from the CM's that WORK at those places.
And the CM's that post here would not steer you wrong! IMHO

Re: DL Cast Members...Question...
I cannot believe the audacity of some people. As a seasonal CM, I get very few sign-ins in a year. I'm sorry, those are reserved for people that I actually know and like. I am not jeopardizing my job so some cheapskate SG can get in without paying. If people cannot afford the tickets, save up your money and come when you can afford it. It is that simple. If anybody asked me that, I would say "Sure, wait here while I go fill out the paperwork" and then go promptly find security to get them kicked out.
