So, for those of you who are friends with the female characters (not just face, but the other ladies like Minnie, Daisy, etc.), do you find it "weird" for "normal" adult men to want to come visit you? I'm not talking about the grabbers/stalkers/etc, just the ones who want to come and get an autograph/pose for a few shots.

Where is the line for creepy?

Oh Dear! After years of teasing my husband, He and Ralph took a picture with Ariel, at Susi's and my insistence. Susi and I did the same. I guess some people think it is a little strange, but we were just having fun. I really did enjoy Ariel interacting with the little kids. One was too shy to speak to Ariel, so Ariel asked her if Ursula had stolen her voice. :p:

How is that creepy?

We can't get a picture with the CM's performing because we are men?

DW and I have pictures of ourselves with Mickey, Minnie, Goofey, etc.
One or the other would take a picture with the Character, and then switch, so the other one could have a pricture taken.

Not any more creepy that getting our picture taken with the "male" characters.

(??)

I totally agree. I am a 54 yr old kid when at Disney and I love the characters, both face and costume. I love to have my pic taken with them. It is pure escapism for me while I am there. I would NEVER even think to act inappropriately towards any CM. They could be my kids, for pete's sake, but even at 54, I can still have fun.

You are exactly right!

I don't find it creepy for guys just to get a picture.

What about a hug? Not a clingy, won't let go, and/or groping kind of hug, just a "regular", relatively brief hug? Does that cross the creepy line?

Nope. I don't think a simple hug is creepy either. :)

I loved it when adults came to meet the characters. Kids are often very single-minded about the autographs and sometimes won't respond to play, but adults will really get into it and respond. I had one woman visit Timon who was awesome - she said, "I've always wanted to do the hula with Timon!" and proceeded to dance his Lion King song with him. So yes, I definitely encourage adults to meet the characters, and play with them too! Please don't feel like you can only meet them if you have an autograph book - I'd much rather have a memorable interaction with somebody than just sign a book.

That said, I was almost always friends with male characters - the only girls I befriended were Jojo the clown, Suzy, and Terk (not that anyone can tell she's a girl anyway). Suzy never got harassed, and children were the only ones who wanted to meet Jojo.

The way to make sure you're not being creepy is to always be polite. Don't make sexual comments, even light ones. After so much time fending off advances, even the playful jokes about how much you'd like to hug Jasmine (or whoever) get very, very old. If you're awestruck by the Princess's beauty, say "it's an honor to meet you" or "your Prince is very, very lucky" and leave it at that. Act like a Prince and you'll get treated like one.

(Which reminds me of a story: when I was friends with Suzy, I'd curtsy to her guests. Mostly it was little girls who would respond, sometimes at prompting from their parents, but there was one little boy who was probably 8 - 10 years old who put his hand over his heart and bowed just like a Prince. I was so totally charmed by that.)

I've been friends with several females, and I really don't find it creepy at all. Minnie is a shameless flirt (although she will always be Mickey's girl) and it is a good day when she can make guys blush! Daisy can be the same way. As for Lilo, it's great anybody wants to interact with her. I can't count the number of times she has been asked to stand aside so somebody can get their picture with just Stitch. It's a lonely existence. I can honestly think of only one male creepy guest:

It was the first set of the day for Lilo (Stitch was late getting up that day, he's still adjusting to the no coffee rule). After the truck with characters went by at DAK a 40ish man smelling very strongly of alcohol comes up and puts his arm around and Lilo and proceeds to hit on her, slurring his words all the while. Thankfully the attendant quickly got her out of there and they hid until Mr. Drunk was well on his way. Clearly this is not normal behavior, most of the time I don't care one way or another for the gender of the guest excpet when it comes on deciding on a pose.

Petite and Proud!
