CMs who never think about SHOW

I didn't know they were doing this in non-Entertainment breakrooms. It seemed to start in Entertainment. Of course, it's all a matter of perspective. When I worked FLand we either breaked in the Teacups or by Pooh or Pan CDs. Teacups just had those tables with the attached chairs that are really hard, Pan has a wooden bench, and Pooh has two regular chairs. If we wanted to go elsewhere, it was to the caefeteria with the hard benches and tables, so the chairs they have been using in Entertainment would be a step up for us.

Yeah The Land/Sunshine Seasons Break room has those cafeteria dinettes. They are just long enough for my torso to fit on it so they aren't the most comfortable but they get the job done. There have been times when The Land was down so 90% of us were on break and sunshine seasons wasn't that busy so the break room was packed! It is hard to sleep when you have to put your face on that table.

I'm guessing that's why all the comfy chairs/couchs were removed, and those darn hard-as-a-rock chairs were put in the breakrooms instead. :(

Although, I'm not too sure about Camp breakroom (since it is a shared breakroom).

Are you talking about character breakrooms? The MS Breakroom has couches and chairs that are decently comfortable in addition to a number of tables with attached chairs.

I have been known to take a snooze or two, usually at the mousecateria.

If you are driving the MK ES or Pluto shuttle overnight, you normally get a hour and a half break/lunch. Plenty of time for a cat nap.

I personally would have a hard time sleeping in there, what with the TV always up so high and the noise of people talking and whatnot.

Once you get used to it, it's actually easier to nap in noisy surroundings. Having worked in radio for 20+ years I find that sudden silence catches my attention much faster than constant noise. I sometimes have the problem that if a neighbor to my apartment is playing a radio or other sound source that I can hear in my bedroom and they turn it off, it wakes me up. When you work nights and sleep days, you run into this problem fairly often. The funny thing is the opposite when someone turns ON a radio or TV while I'm sleeping does not wake me up. So a nap in a constantly noisy room is actually easier for me than one that is so quiet that someone slamming a door a block away may jolt me awake.

Bru: Yes, lice is a problem in entertainment. With people spending up to 40 minutes out of every hour on upholstered furniture and sharing head wear, it really doesn't come as a surprise. We do our best to sanitize everything to keep it down, but it still happens on a surprisingly frequent basis.

I've got a great TV Mouseketeeria story. During the World Cup in 06, the parades crew was on lunch at the same time Brazil was playing (I believe their opponent was Mexico). At that time we had an unusually large number of Brazilian CMs at MK. After a really hot day doing parade, we all had headaches and just wanted to eat our lunches in relative peace. This proved to be impossible with all of the screaming coming from the people watching the World Cup. As we were leaving to go check in for the next parade, one of the taller guys reached up and turned off the tv in the middle of a play! We told him that he was taking his life in his hands, but we all had wanted to do the same thing. It was disturbingly satisfying.

The past year in New York was pretty awful noise-wise. My neighbor must have had a delusion that he was a rock and roll singer and played his guitar and wailed 24/7. Also taxis honking at 3 in the morning and people yelling and screaming on the street didn't help. I'm back in NC right now and it is very quiet. I really don't miss that noise but I do find the silence unsettling.

I was visiting Disneyland Park today after work, and was over by the Enchanted Tiki Room, there was a Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour over there, and the Tour Guide was, if you can believe this, LISTENING TO HER iPOD . The group was just standing there sort of staring at her.

EDIT: (Just to note, the more I think about it, the more I have an odd feeling this might have been PART of the tour, and not an example of Bad Show, . So before you go off and condemn this CM, may I ask for someone who knows a little more on the subject to confirm whether this was supposed to be happening or not, lol)

Just a thought. Do the tour groups there use the bluetooth earpieces that I have heard are sometimes used in tours at WDW so that the tour members can hear the guide without the guide yelling? If so it may be that that particular guide was using audio clips as part of their presentation. Thus the guide would be listening to a clip that is also being beamed to the rest of the tour. That could explain why the tour group would be gathered, looking at the guide and not asking questions.

I don't know for sure but the idea may fit the clues.

Let's look at some relationships. Disney bought Pixar and made Steve Jobs the largest individual shareholder in Disney. Steve Jobs also heads up Apple. I'm sure either some sort of deal with struck (aka discount) with Apple. The Ipod is also a proven leader in the portable entertainment player industry. If they are using nano's, whatever generation of ipod or ipod touch, they can scroll visually and select which audio they need to play. Using something like the shuffle they would not be able to do that, and would need to know track numbers. I'm also sure more people know the ipod interface, than let's say, the Microsoft alternative. Plus Microsoft sucks, but I'll let others go down that path :)
