I posted this on the CM's that got fired thread, but CMGuy reminded me of it:

We had a guy in Fland that I always thought of as the "schmuck". His last name reminded me of the word schmuck, and he acted like it. He was termed after he literally slept through three shows in Philhar theatre, in front of guests. You know you are screwed when you wake up and a manager is standing over you.

Yeah, if your'e going to break the rules, at least attempt to be discrete about it. Sleepin on the clock is prohibited, so it amazed me when I was on Light Duty on Main Street how many people were sleeping in the large breakroom.

I usually only shut my eyes for a few minutes during my lunch, so I'm not technically "on the clock". There have been a few days where my eyelids fluttered a little back in the darkness of Video Monitor after working a couple 12+ hour days. So in between boats passing I would stand and stretch my legs to get the blood flowing. That usually woke me right up. That or an Auto E-stop. LOL!

People sleep in the Main Street Breakroom all the time. I've seen I don't know how many people snoozing on the couches and chairs.

I give them the benefit of a doubt though, they may be between two shifts or something. I work with one guy who worked the day shift in Frontierland and worked Grad Night that night. Between his shifts I saw him sleeping on a couch and I couldn't blame them.

As long as they are on break and return to work on time I don't see anybody saying anything. The way I see it, if people want to sleep during their break that's their business. They are on break so aren't technically on the clock.

I personally would have a hard time sleeping in there, what with the TV always up so high and the noise of people talking and whatnot.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

I'm guessing that's why all the comfy chairs/couchs were removed, and those darn hard-as-a-rock chairs were put in the breakrooms instead. :(

Although, I'm not too sure about Camp breakroom (since it is a shared breakroom).

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

There were several reasons given for the new furniture:

1.)It's more durable
2.) It is easier to clean and sanitize
3.) It is less likely to hold lice, a problem in Entertainment.

Many people believed that it was to stop people from sleeping during off-set time, but of course, no managers ever admitted to that being the reason.

At M:S, we had the most comfortable couches in our breakroom, and lots of pillows. They were very useful to me on New Years 07, when I was working a 13 hour shift, feeling sick after working 17 hours on New Years Eve. I set the alarm on my cell phone, and slept during my lunch. But then they remodeled the break room last year. Now it's all those hard chairs. It made me sad. :(

I didn't know they were doing this in non-Entertainment breakrooms. It seemed to start in Entertainment. Of course, it's all a matter of perspective. When I worked FLand we either breaked in the Teacups or by Pooh or Pan CDs. Teacups just had those tables with the attached chairs that are really hard, Pan has a wooden bench, and Pooh has two regular chairs. If we wanted to go elsewhere, it was to the caefeteria with the hard benches and tables, so the chairs they have been using in Entertainment would be a step up for us.

 lice is a problem in Entertainment?
