Re: I dont care if your a AP holder...
I tried to sit quietly and ignore this thread but I can't since it's something that really bothers me when I'm in the park, both as a guest and a cm. The rules are pretty clear - as a guest ANY line holding is against the rules, whether you're one person or ten, whether you leave to get an ice cream or go to the bathroom. The policy is, if one person returns to or joins the line, the rest of their party goes BACK in line to meet them. That's the official, bona fide, policy. Is it enforced? No, not always. It depends on the line, the cms, the guests, and the situation.
However in the situation described, sending one person to get fastpasses to another attraction while the rest of the party gets in line, it's not only line jumping by the park's official policy but it's a violation of the fastpass policy, which requires that the whole party be present to get fastpasses at the same time as well. Again, it's a policy that isn't always enforced, and many people DO get all their party's tickets together and do a fastpass run, but the rules actually DO state that everyone in the party should be present to get a fastpass. It's designed to allow cms to ensure everyone who gets a fastpass will be able to ride (height restrictions, medical problems, etc.). Most CMs have no problem with one member of a party getting fastpasses for everyone, as long as that party doesn't come back later to complain that they weren't all able to ride for some reason. It's one of those rules that protects some of the guests from disappointment, and we assume that most guests aren't helped or hurt by following or not following it.
Sending one person to get fastpasses WHILE the other members of your party get in line for another attraction, though, is NOT permitted. Period. It's against park policy. Many cms will "assist guests with catching up with their party" simply because they don't know the policy, or it's too much trouble to enforce, or they have a situation where a guest really didn't have a choice (ie the bathroom emergency) and it's inconvienient to other guests but they can smooth things over for the guest who suddenly found themselves in an unfortunate emergency and can help them carry on enjoying their day. Your situation is different however. You are not in an emergency. You are declaring that the time you save by holding a place in line for one person from your party who runs to get fastpasses is more important than the inconvenience to other guests in line, or unfairness to others who all wait in line together as they are required to do. Your argument that it's not your fault if they weren't smart enough to break the rules like you do quite frankly really disturbs me.
I worked at RnR and had I caught you doing it in my line, I would have made you and your party go to the end of the line. That's my job and I take it very seriously.

Oh, and one last comment - the comment about how fastpasses are designed to help you save time. Yes and no. They are designed to allow you to do something else while the computer stands in line for you. They are not a ticket to bypass the park's rules, or a ticket to bypass courtesy to other guests.

WOW! This thread is smokin'!!!!! I believe that the correct way to do queues is if someone has to go potty, then it is fine to come back. Those lines get long. BUT, if you are placeholding for someone just picking up fastpasses or food or a drink, UH-UH! And I am gonna be the first nasty mooded, menopausal woman to stand in front of you and ridicule you into the cement.
YOU will wish you went to the back of the line where you belong!
Grumpy has got it right. You would see that his solution works for everyone if you read his post. He waits where he is and allows others to pass and then when his DW joins him, he takes up his place in line there. That is what we do as well. That is called courtesy and not selfish and not a me, me, me attitude.
I am the first screechy voice you are going to hear in your ear if you try to walk past me with a fistful of FP or a drink or a group. It will be much worse than the screechy yell that Big Wallaby heard on his ride from Hell!
NO WAY! IT IS CUTTING, no matter what way you slice it. If you encounter ME in line, PapaMouse, you are NOT going to get by me. PERIOD!
I have been waiting in line, you have not, you have been running around doing OTHER THINGS and waiting in the line gives me first shot at the attraction. Get it now?
Anyway, it is no big deal for you to wait, you are still gonna get in, right? And you won't encounter the Menopausal demon on your way cutting in front of everyone. We have gotten people thrown out of line for this shit. Believe me, you will NOT get past me.
I am sad because your posts really sound like you feel entitled and better than everyone else. What if EVERYONE felt that way? Disney would not be very much fun! That is not what Disney is about. Why would you go with the thinking that *I am going to do it if I want and everyone else can just kiss my ass!" That is not very Disney like and puts you very close to being an SG.
Really think about what you said and see that it might just offend someone. YOU feel that YOU have the right to do ANYTHING YOU wish to get back in line. Not True, Papamouse. Be a little more courteous and have a better time.
And remember, if you ever encounter a woman who will NOT budge in letting you pass, it might be me. And if you try to pass me and push me out of the way or put your hands on me to get by, I will call assault on you for pushing me to get your way! Oh and I will be smiling the whole time I do.... :) Then, I WILL find a CM who will make sure your group has to join YOU at the back of the line if they still allow you in! They don't like line-cutters!!!
Have a magical day!
sues
P.S. Thank you Eeyore's Butterfly and Theme Park Where!
Oh, PapaMouse do you honestly think anyone here is going to help you with your registry list for Disney character meals and other Disney *stuff* when you insult them and take the entitled stance? I thought you had *people* on the inside. Can't they help with all the items on your *registry*? If they work for Disney, they should be able to get you all the things you need.
If you had approached us differently, we might WANT to help with your honeymoon, as we did with the Bubble Ladies trip. Different approach gets different response...
I do wish you a wonderful marriage, like I have with my hubby! Congrats on your impending nuptials! :) That is a happy occasion! All the best to you and your bride to be! :)

As far as I can tell, PM lives under a bridge over which billy goats frequently tromp. Such creatures require frequent feeding or they wither and die.
