When you are all waiting outside, you decide to run across the street and get gas in the car while you wait, they call your name and your party is seated. When you return, do you think they will deny you entry and not allow you to go sit down with your family? I DON'T THINK SO they will GLADLY lead you to your table.
Yes, they would, I'm sure, but I would explain to the staff the situation beforehand and make sure everything was ok for my absence and return.
Wombat recently had an interesting experience where someone who was without the rest of his party present tried to commandeer his assigned table at a buffet. Being a Gentleman, he (Wombat) found another table to go to with his family, but he was rather appalled by this other person's manners. The offending party said his party was coming, but he (offender) really should have discussed the whole situation with the wait staff instead of just plowing ahead.

Meanwhile the line moved ahead, so I just stayed in the outer que as the others passed me. Once she got back, we moved forward to the show from where I had stopped. No one, including the CM's said a word! BUT if asked, I would have exited and waited, because ITS JUST A SHOW!!

KWIM VERN??

(sorry, was thinking of jim varney for some reason!!)
Now see to me that is wrong. you stepped out of line. You should have held your place in line until your wife returned or you reached the front, if she had not returned by then, then step out, or enter the attraction. People are less likely to get upset if they see a person joining a group, but to see a person joined by another and then just step in line again, that causes problems. The people that did not see your wife leave and now just see you get in line don't know whats going on and get mad. But if your starting at the end and saying "excuse me, my family is up there" they understand more.

Actually, many Disney Restaurants require your entire party to be present before they will seat you due to high volume. So if you are getting ready to check in for a restaurant, be sure everybody is there or be prepared to wait until everybody shows up.

Doubtful, and if you did they would not care, they would still seat your family and show you to your table later when you return.

NOPE, you didn't get it, I didn't step out of line. I stayed put and let people pass me. when she re-joined me, we moved ahead at that point.

that que is unusual, as there are actually three lines, and is covered, with t.v's and a trivia contest playing etc.

But then again, its not a big deal to wait for the next show.

And how many DISNEY restaurants do you know of that have a gas station across the street? I did not say a Disney restaurant. And I guarantee you that if your party of 6 was called and thre was only 5 of you and you said the other person just went to the bathroom, they would still seat you, no questions asked.

Peace PM. I know you did not say Disney Restaurants. I was throwing that out there for anybody reading the thread who may not be aware. And for the record: The situation you described happened to me. I was with a group of several people, one went to the bathroom while we were waiting. They called our name, but she was still gone. We had to wait for her to come back before they would seat us.

I'm sorry that you doubt that I would be courteous, but I guess there are so few of us who are

Done. You stay at the back of the line, I will rejoin my group and enjoy the attraction.

Working in public service in one form or another I can tell you that when "guest" come up to you and explain useless information (ie The mall -"We are going to park our car in the parking lot while we run over to that store there." Um ok, so what. Expect me to watch your car? ther are thousands of cars here, who cares if you park here.) Most people that do this kind of thing are looking for an employee to say no so they can fight back. ("Why cant we park here, everyone else is parking here.") So It really has nothing to do with being courteous. It's annoying and drives employees crazy. We don't care if your going for gas, or going to the bathroom, just go and when you get back we'll seat you, or whatever.
