I actually didn't really mind working Grad Nites. I guess it's because the kids don't really hang out in Fantasyland for long. They tend to be more interested in the "cooler" rides.

I actually went to HS in FL and my school was known as being...um..we'll say rambunctious. We were warned multiple times about what would happen if anyone acted up. It was not going to be pretty. Why anyone wouldn't take that seriously is beyond me.

This may not be directly grad nite related but does anybody know why all the school band groups were in the Studios weekend before last (19th/20th)? Was there a competition going or something? For the most part they were well behaved (and amusingly burst into song on occasion LOL) but we got stuck next to one obnoxious group during the Funniest Citizen of Hollywood Contest after waiting 45 minutes for the show to start. There was not a chaparone in sight for this particular group though most seemed to have them.

DH and I just wondered what the heck was up with the Invasion of the Real High School Musical.

The nightmares will linger.

Until later into the night Main Street would be pretty quiet as the grads would be going directly to the rides. Later on though Main Street would start hopping, especially at the Tip Board cart. We wound up commandeering two stanchions and some rope and setting up a queue line. I wasn't out there during the busiest times (to busy trying to get shirts onto hangers so they could be taken out there) but the instructions from the manager was to direct everybody making a purchase to the line and a CM at the head would call them forward one at a time as one of the two cashiers became available.

I guess because they are idiots. The penalties for breaking the rules at Grad Night are very stiff so they must be idiots to break them. My understanding is that if you break the rules you don't get to graduate which screws you up and your school is not invited back again, which pisses off the entire school towards the offender.

There has been a lot of bands performing in the MK lately as part of the Magic Music Days, could have been related to that. Some days there would be 4 or more bands performing. They march along the parade route and the majority were pre-parade entertainment. Sometimes there would be 3 bands almost one after the other just before the afternoon parade. That weekend there was a number of bands performing IIRC.

I think it's really more along the lines of they don't graduate with their class but do the August graduation. So for some it may not really be a big deal. I know that if I had done anything stupid to keep me from graduating on time my butt would have gotten in so much trouble with my parents!

My school was actually banned for quite a while from Grad Nite. They were only allowed back the year before I went. Maybe that's why people behaved more, because we knew what would happen and that it wasn't a joke.

Okay, the deal was this lady's daughter had her kid at Grad Night, he was with his class, and they had never been to WDW before, so it was supposed to be a special family trip. I don't know what ride(s) she was not allowed to get on. I'm just repeating what she said her daughter told her. I went to that board this early afternoon, and they were still steamed about it. It was like they never read my post. So I posted again, shorter, and asked that cooler heads prevail. I already posted the addy of this site, saying if they wanted to talk to anyone on this board, go ahead, but be nice. If you want, PM me and I'll tell you the board and thread. But give it a day or two first, okay?

One of my friends works in foods. One grad night a few years ago at DL-Park..She and a few friends were selling beverage at the Festival Area. Power 106 FM was having a dance contest. Everything was going well until 2 different groups of kids got into a shove fight. Next thing my friend knew that there was a stabbing. My friend said she plans know to do that in the future.

That almost seems like a set up for that one "rabble rouser" in a graduating class to "make his/her mark" as something for the whole school to remember him/her by!

You know, get caught doing something bad and then blame others for his/her actions and claim that it wasn't their fault! Even though he/she wouldn't graduate, that might not mean that much to some one like that!

the whole class, and subsequent year(s) of graduates would have to "pay" for that one persons misdeeds!
