For those of you who worked Grad Night at the MK....

Post by disneyprincess1988 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 5:03 pm

I feel so sorry for you all, especially after my roommate told me her own horror stories about what she had to put up with last night. These included her being called nasty names by the grads, things thrown at her, and being physically hit by these little hoodlums. *shakes her head in amazement.

Makes me glad I work in a Resort and, as of the middle of June, an office with a computer, desk, and telephone so I don't have to deal with these out of control brats.

They'll find a way to track you down.

Earlier today, I was on a board for writers, and this one person posted a complaint about her handicapped daughter's experience at WDW during Grad Night. I gave her the 'cast member' pointo f view, though I worked at Knott's. Then I told her if she writes a complaint letter, not to rage all over the place, just state the facts. I also told her about SGT, and warned her that if she came here looking for the "why", to be nice to you guys.

Basically, the situation was her adult daughter has a spinal problem, and went with her husband and kids to Grad Night in a wheelchair, because she couldn't walk fast or far. She couldn't get on most of the rides, said the CM's were rude to her, and one ride where they could've stopped to let her on, they refused to stop the ride. So if someone with a story like that comes on, be nice and give her a friendly listening ear. Her daughter, who is normally a sweet, composed lady, called her mother in a crying rage over this. Another person on the board gave her the email addy for complaints; other board members were shocked and disgusted over what had happened. So I told her what likely lead to the problem, but to go ahead and write the complaint letter. Like I said, if she logs on, help her out, okay? You know how it goes--one ticked off person can tell alot of other people in cyberspace, and that can impact things. Look what happened to Knott's.

Thats too bad. ITs sounds like they didn't get the right pass so the CM's could help them!

I have said it before, the CM's from DLR and WDW ALWAYS seem to go out of their way to help a guest, be it in a wheelchair or ECV or justr walking normal! (Hmmm except maybe Susi...sorry PRINCESS Susi (hehehehehehe))

Somethims bad things CAN happen!!

I am and always have been a skeptical person so it should surprise no one that this situation is screaming for the other side. A CM would have to have the IQ of a rock to intentionally act in that fashion towards a person in a wheelchair. They would know that this is the type of thing that would be reported in a heartbeat. I wasn't there, but, there must be more to this story. There is something missing that ties this all together and makes it make sense. I'm just saying!

I'm sorry this happened to her, but I'm sure there is another side to the story. I wonder if the ride that wouldn't stop is Peter Pan? Other continual dispatch rides (mansion, buzz) can stop to let guests on, Peter Pan cannot. Due to the age of the ride, the stop is very jerky and will do two things: 1.) send all the guests and CMs on the belt flying and 2.) possibly give the guests on the ride whiplash. Therefore we are only allowed to stop it in an emergency, if a guest cannot transfer on a moving belt, they cannot ride. It is unfortunate, and something I hope they will change. IF she had ridden those other rides and then gone to Pan, she would not understand why the ride was stopped.

I have to admit that I find it hard to believe that so many CMs were rude to her about her disability, but stranger things have happened.

Also, what was she doing there on a Grad Nite? Did the woman mean that her daughter was there during the day of one of the Grad Nites, because there is no way that woman would be in the park during the actual event as it sounds like she was a tourist (husband and children).

How do Grad Nights work?? Are they like pirate and princess party nights or EMHs and the only people who are allowed in are those with wrist bands??

The park does a hard close (all guests out) and then let in the school groups that have paid for them. People are not coming on their own, they are coming as part of specific school groups.
