I am not saying they do random checks. But if they have a reason to ask someone for ID and they don't have one on them, they can be arrested for vagrancy.

I guess that depends on where you are.

You're supposed to have a license on you that shows that you are licensed to drive the vehicle you're operating. It may be true that you have it at home or in your other pants, but if you don't have it when you're driving, you're SOL.

Same for insurance and registration but some officer's will follow the person home or work so the person show their license. It depends on the officer and the municipality. Do not expect it around my area.

Shorty82 wrote:Same here. I never go anywhere without my wallet which is where I always kept my driver's license. I'm keeping my DL behind my Disney ID in my lanyard now as this ID has no picture so I have to have a photo ID handy to get on the cast bus or anything. Not a problem normally but I'll have to make sure I take my DL with me if I go shopping on my day off or something.
A phrase you need to learn and use at almost every eating establishment off-property, as well as for a lot of small businesses: "Do you give a Disney Cast Discount?"

It generally works. Yesterday I decided to try out a new Panda Express very close to where I live. I asked the cashier that, actually my version is "Senior Citizen or Disney Cast Discount" and the cashier said "no, but I'll give you a discount anyway".

Also (if one is a member) add in AAA. lots of place give a AAA discount. Places you would not even think about. (ie. Wal-Mart pharmacy)

I learned that one at Traditions. The idea being if they don't offer one now they might decide to if enough people ask.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

True, I have even done a price comparison when traveling and have noticed that AAA discount on hotels and such is better that some other "corporate" prices!!

This phrase saved me $20.00 at SAS shoes in Anaheim in 05. $20.00 per pair really helped!! They'd never thought of a "Disney C M Discount" until I told the manager these shoes were exactly what Disney required. :) Have also saved on tires & a car battery with the above magical phrase & my DLR ID.

Not where I live. If you are stopped without a license or proof of insurance all you have to do is bring them with you to the courthouse and they will waive both fines.

You used to have to appear before the judge for this, but now you can do it at the window to pay the ticket. And you have from the time you get the ticket until the day of the court date to do it.

Different places different rules..

Thats the problem that many people don't realize, is that state laws governing Licenses, insurance and registration vary from state to state!

As well as the identification to law enforcement requirement.

one of the better resources that I use is this one: http://public.findlaw.com/traffic-ticke ... affic-law/

when you travel iner-state and intra-state, it helps!

of course, the best way is to have all the documents with you.
(and being polite to law enforcement, if encountered, goes a long way too!)
