Scum Of The Earth

Post by hobie16 » Wed Mar 26, 2008 8:03 pm

After reading the attached link it's readily apparent Wal-Mart is the scum of the earth. But I could be wrong. Read it and vote.

That is not only unbelievable that they could stoop that low, but you would think that SOMEONE in the company would realize that actions like that will start to effect the company, in a bad way!!

The poll has been deleted, as it's not appropriate for SGT to be used as a weapon against any company, especially one that doesn't even operate a theme park.

The thread may continue, but let's remember our "no bashing" rule here. While we'll permit more abuse of companies (especially those that ask for it) than of individuals, if that's *all* this thread becomes, we may elect to close it.

Thanks for understanding that the main focus here is in the title.

Aside from this, Wal-Mart = The Suck anyways. What the hell are they thinking taking away Layaway????? And they did it just a month before Christmas. WTH?

And "Customer Service" is non-existent . I call 1-800-wal-mart at least 2 times a month about the piss-poor service from our store. Sadly it's the only place here.

That reminds me of that way when we start with the Company they have us sign a paper basically saying if we ever get an idea for anything while working at Disney, on or off the clock, we are supposed to submit it and it becomes the property of Disney. My wife has created something that I am sure Disney would love to own, and I've basically told her that if she ever wants to develop this creation, she needs to quit so they can't come after her for it. She will never draw it while on break, I won't even mention it here lest someone get wind. I know I haven't done a great job of staying hidden, If you get on Safari and look for me, I'm pretty easy to find. In the past, I've thought how I might as well have a picture up here, but that's one step I won't take.

This thing has been her creation since she was nine years old. It's one of the few things that I say the Company can't have. It's one of the few things we would both quit before allowing them to take it. They can have 25 hours of my day, they can dictate when I eat, breathe, sleep, shower, play with guests, go to church, and just about everything else they want to dictate... I am and choose to be a Cast Member. But this one thing they just can't have.

I hope she develops this creation some day, but not until after she is done working for Disney. I hope that some day, you will all learn of this creation. But that will be some time down the road.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

The new walmart they just built near my house is really nice. But they still suck.

BW: Other then Disney is a 800lb Gorilla with lawyers on staff, I think they would have a hard time making something stick if an employee developed their idea on their own time, at their own home and without the assistance of anything Disney. Granted it would be a hard, expensive fight. There are some things that employers try to do, but just don't hold up. Especially if she can prove that her job with Disney has 0 to do with whatever thing she developed.

Plus if she has had this idea since she was 9, and spoke of it to family and such, she'd probably be okay.

I read that story a few days ago and I was pretty disgusted with Wal-Mart...

BW, I know what you're talking about! I suggested a new idea for a magical moment for the land, since ours sucks, and management apparently put it into effect!!! I am not looking for payment or anything but a pat on the back would be nice! LOL, so is the life of a CM.

Most companies have employees sign the same type of agreement. I would be hard to enforce if you can document the original creation date. Keep records!!

The last company I worked for had a very good patent awards system. If you came up with something that could be patented, you got an award of money. If the patent went through, you got a huge award of money. One guy got $10,000 for designing a venturi that improved cooling of the processor unit which reduced overall power draw. Not bad for a hunk of sheet metal.

Sorry, I don't agree on this one. And Walmart may be crappy for plenty of other reasons.

I can sympathize with the family and it is terrible that they won't have the money but I am more disgusted with the lawyer. (he ASSumed they could keep it... I'm sure he's keeping his half!)

When you sue for medical expenses that money goes to whomever the expenses are owed to (or it is given to whomever has already paid those expenses). I thought that was a pretty standard procedure. How many other cases would the insurance company have to give money back on if they got to keep theirs?
