A few things I use:

1. Gatorade-helps in getting you re-hydrated. Sometimes its the only thing I can have when I'm really sick.

2.Naked Juice-all natural, the only sugar in it is from the fruit. Really good, makes you feel like a million bucks. I like Red Machine the best.

3.Mashed potatoes-nice and warm, easy to eat. No butter, just pepper and salt. (maybe a little garlic)

4. Lots and Lots of water.

Feel better soon!

Almost Better!

On Monday I decided to head on into work. Why not? Calling in is for wussies! It was only gonna be a few breakfast sets and I'd be out by one. Everything goes great all morning. Until, that is after my first set out. I was halfway to the break room when I started to feel really weak. I told my other CM's who were in there that I feeling faint and someone quickly started to pull me out of my suit. When my skin touched the air, I knew something was wrong. I had a major case of the sweats. Not just the typical ones we "friends" get post set. I was really cold, I had a pounding headache, and (according to the other CM's) I was uncannily red all over. They gave me some decongestants and ibuprofens from the first aid box, water, juice, and I managed a few bites of breakfast that was sent down to us from the restaurant.

Needless to say, I was sent home and my work day cut short.

As soon as I got home flopped into bed and slept till 6 PM.

Gah! It was one of the stupidest decisions I ever made when it comes to work. They were right, I really should have called in - but I was too dang proud to admit that I needed extra rest. I just wanted to work and be "normal" again after being cooped up, for 6 days straight coughing, and sniffling.

After sleeping all day and gathering up strength on Mon. I decided to give it another shot on Tues. Luckily all went well in the morning and I treated myself to a nice long stroll around World Showcase lagoon at Epcot before I did a late night EMH shift there that night. Boy was did I need the exercise and fresh air!

Thanks everyone for your help. I had a good deal of chicken noodle soup, Powerade, Orange Juice, and rest. I did also throw in some garlic a into some clear broth I was drinking as well ... no rum in the house, unfortunately!

Anyway, I'm nicely recovering with the exception of a few coughing fits, a mild sore throat, and an on/off stuffy nose.

Glad you're recovering, Sarah! I understand the same reluctance to call in (though I play a lawyer -- we have no friends :cool :) . I'll be at home, feeling semi-recovered and bored to tears, so I go in to work and end up nearly killing myself (or at least it feels like it) doing things that normally aren't any strain at all. I keeping thinking I've learned that lesson, but I still mess up and go back to work too soon every once in a while.

Good thing, too, that you made it off-stage!

Wow, you "dodged the bullet" on that one! Good thing you got out of the costume before something 'bad" happened.

Don't feel bad, I used to go in to work when I was not feeling 100%.

Now I am trying to "burn" the sick leave, as it cannot be "sold back" for retirement!

Waaaaaa! Switch to Burbon!!

OR Beer

OR Scotch!

Or Guiness

OR...whatever!!

(peppermint schnapps with a beer backer was what we liked when I was in Japan, we would drink that before going for hot Sake!!)
