What do you WANT to do?

I'm going to call my Casting Rep on Tuesday (she's off until then) and get information on possibly starting part-time and becoming full-time later. I'll also ask about seasonal when I have her on the line.

I was thinking of my options. How hard is it to transfer to full-time if you start as a part-timer? I'm thinking that if nothing else I'll start out part-time and try to become full-time after that. Also, say I'm assigned Main Street East Merchandise (just pulling places I've heard of out of my hat), can I pick up shifts on the EHH for Future World? I'd rather start out full-time but if there are only part-time positions open I'll start there. Better than nothing and I'll be working for the Mouse either way. I'll want to work more than that though so would need to pick up shifts somewhere.

I don't know much about Windermere except that looks nice from the air (gotta love Google Earth) and that it is very close to WDW.

If you work in Merchandise, you can put in for any shift that requires MATRA (Merchandise Point-of-Sale system) training or any shift that doesn't require training, no matter where it is on the property. The shifts are now listed on the EHH according to a schedule:

On Sunday, Cast Members can see shifts for the following week in their own area.
On Tuesday, they can see shifts within their park and line of business.
On Wednesday, they can see any shift on WDW that they are trained for.

I have a ritual every Sunday morning of stumbling out of bed and immediately going to my computer to check the following week's schedule and the EHH.

Merchandise is a good field for extra-hours, last summer a very large percentage of the EHH shift had MATRA training as a requirement. A lot of attractions shift go up but they all say "must have trained or worked in this attraction in the last 6 months", so my guess would be they are pretty much for current and former CMs from that attraction. That makes sense for me since I imagine each attraction works very differently. Maybe someone who works in Attractions could give you more specific information. They have in the past had a lot of PAC and QSR jobs on the hotline; I don't think they require training but I've never tried to sign up for one so I'm not sure.

Windermere is really nice town, I drive through there on my way to work every day. If you are actually going to be living inside the town of Windermere, be aware that all of the streets in the town except the through roads are unpaved (to encourage non residents to use the through roads and not the city streets.) A lot of famous people like Tiger Woods and Shaq live in the Windermere zip code, most of them live just outside the town limits in one of the gated communities. (Although Tiger Woods is moving to South Florida I think.) You'll drive by their houses on the way to work.

Anybody know about the individual tolls for 4 axle vehicles on the Turnpike and Highway 429?

According to the Toll Calculator on the Turnpike's website the total toll from I-75 to the 429 exit will be $7.50 for me. I can find individual tolls for 2 axle vehicles but not 4 axle on the Turnpike and nothing at all for 429.

I'm trying to figure out what I'll be paying at each booth so I can have the money ready in advance so all I have to do is grab and toss the coins into the coin taker without having to negotiate toll booth traffic in a big moving van with car hauler attached while gathering up the right amount of money at the same time.

A roll of quarters ought to do it. Not sure of the exact amount, though. We always take one of those plastic M&M tubes full of quarters with us and go through about 2/3 of them on the way down but that's for 2 axles.

I haven't counted it yet but I have a lot more than just a single roll of quarters here. I tend to save my change anyway and as I had to use the complex laundry I keep my quarters separate for it. I got them in a baggie right now but I might go and get some M&M Minis, they're good and the tube will be handy.

$7.50 plus however much 429 costs me (shouldn't be much for that stretch) will use up nearly two-thirds of a roll (a roll is $10.00 of quarters).

If I remember correctly from a previous post or email, he said there were no full-time positions open at this time that he was qualified for. We'll have to wait for him to post to fill us in, hopefully soon.
