MAJOR Disney Celeb at Komen walk and unrelated SG!

Post by DisneyMom » Sat Mar 15, 2008 4:18 pm

Hey All!
Just finished the Komen Walk, very inspiring and took a co-worker survivor and her Hubby with our family today at the Rose Bowl....
We are checking in for our numbers and T-shirts, I look up and think...
That gentleman there looks just like Dick Van Dyke! Well, sure enough, it WAS him, looking Handsome and fit and like the Movie Star he is. He was actually there as part of the Team we were on, and I saw him many times today being unobtrusive and gracious to us fans(got a few pics including with my co-worker:D :) . Also saw him doing the walk, and he may be able to keep up with me, but was probably just taking a leisurely 2.5 mi stroll. I was really happy to see him doing so well, and my sons were also impressed, although more from "Night at the Museum" than Mary Poppins...
Although I enjoyed everything very much, there are a lot of booth there with a lot of freebies, and guess what every SG craves....FREEBIES!
I was PAYING for fundraiser bracelets at the Coldwater Creek booth, waiting patiently for my turn, when I hear a voice shouting behind me, "Move Your Nalgas!" I speak a few words of Spanish, so I turn around and give the hostile little B a look, more out of surprise than anything, and she says,"You're in my way!" as she reaches for the win a free something or another form. I turn back around and pay for my bracelets, and as I walk away, I say,"Excuse Me also works" in an even tone. Well, she started yelling at me that I was the one who needed to be polite at the top of her lungs as I continued to walk away. Why is it that the people who are screaming and being abusive are always the ones worried about MY manners? Anyway, I hope the people at the Coldwater Creek booth tore up her form!

:flybongo: NO BULL!!!!!:D:

Jeez, SG's even show up at great events like that. Hope you got some good stuff from Coldwater creek! (that is one of DW's favorite stores, next to Chicos, Lands' End, etc. etc.)

Coldwater Creek has nice stuff, very high end clothing and jewelry. I get the catalog and we have one at the richy-rich Flat Irons Mall just up HWY 36 from us on the way to Boulder. I have not bought anyhing from them, I tend to be a shorts, teeshirt and barefoot kind of old hippy! :hippie:

Wow! Dick Van Dyke! Cool Disneymom!

I am sorry you had a run in with a stupid rude person. They are everywhere. I have been reading threads at eBay Boards and boy. the rudeness comes out there and even other Disney sites, they are just everywhere. Can't get away from them.

Are manners out of style now? I see so many people that do not say "please" and "thank you" and "excuse me" and they expect you to let them go first or get what they want before you.... the world is becoming more rude everyday.

PM me about lunch the weekend you are there in April.
