I can't tell you how many times I've been to WDW with my husband and we just look at each other & shake our heads & say "those poor cast members". You guys put up with some industrial-sized crap from guests, but always seem to keep your cool. How do you do it? You are pure class!

I, too, try to take note of a CM's name when they're being given a hard time by an irritating guest. I'll email Disney and let them know how impressive that cast member was, and that they're an asset to the company. I've actually gotten a few phone calls thanking me & telling me that Disney REALLY does pay attention to the positive comments by guests!

To the CM's: thanks for making my trips to WDW and DCL so magical!!

As an inactive pin trader I would feel sorriest for them at DL. My friend was a super trader who was surrounded by people in all kinds of weather. The people would pull pin backs off with their teeth and slobber all over the pins and then hand then to the CM to trade.

My friend went to the hospital very sick with pneomonia and had numerous cold and flu. it is a fun job until you get snot nosed adults and their kids slobbering on pins and getting really close to you. I would watch people poking her all over her trading vest to show which pin they wanted. Some dudes I think on purpose wanted the ones on her chest. Dude why do you want a scratch cheap pin?

I know a lot of female CMs who either wear the Green "Kids Only" lanyards or the Hip Panels for just this reason (including my last two GFs, both of whom were considerably bustier than average).

2 years ago we passed out buttons we made to the CMs during the week.Examples were:The Buzz ride(CMs "go to infinity and beyond" for guests...Thanks from our last name),Bus drivers(CMs "bus" guests around! Thanks),the Villains((we think CMs are "wicked"),Food Service(CMs "serve" guests daily! thanks our last name),some CMs got(Cast Members are "Ohana")Resort front desk(CMs "check-in" guests daily! Thanks).Yes,corny I know  ,but I hope it made every CMs day.We let our then 6 year old son give the CMs the buttons. We've been going to WDW every year since 1995 (except 1998,son was born) and we have noticed since 1997,the guests seem to be a lot more ruder than the 2 years before that(especially the foreigners). To the CMs,have you noticed this also? Thanks for all you do for us and maybe we'll see some of you Dec.17-23 this year(me and DW celebrating 10 years then  ).

I too am a long time lurker and first time poster. But I also wanted to give all the CM'S a huge thankyou. My husband and I come here alot and we either laugh or groan depending on the topic.

Some of my favorites are the people that think they are the ONLY ones in the park that have had to pay or travel to be there. One woman in a store on Mainstreet was holding some glass object screaming at the CM "and make sure you wrap this really well because we have to travel a long way." With the guest's southern accent I wouldn't imagine she was traveling that far. lol

Numerous times I have heard parents SCREAM at their kids while waiting in line "We paid a fortune to be here and you WILL have a good time."

In the hotels while the porters are pushing carts laden with bags and kids run past them and almost tip them over and they just smile. OMG!!

I truly do not know how you can listen to things like this every day and not loose your mind!

My hat is off to all of you!! But I would also like to thank you for magically help to bond my family again after some really hard times. Some of the CM'S are truly gifted and deserve much more than what you are paid. Because of this we are true Disney fans and will always return year after year.

One more cruise suggestion

When we went back in 2004, my husband, sister-in-law, and I did the wine tasting class. Well it turned out to be the three of us and another guy that came late with 4 wine sommeliers. It was held in Palos I think during the time we were in port at Nassau. Getting to see them sheer off the top of the champagne bottle with a table knife was worth taking the class by itself. It was really fun.

Amen to that (though I do appreciate resort CMs too).

That's the exact reason I got a green hip lanyard. I hated when the guests would grab at the neck lanyard.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

It's not just at WDW, it's everywhere. I absolutely do not get man's inhumanity to man and it saddens and disgusts me. When I can I try to make the insulted party feel a little better and there have been several times on our last trip that I've said something encouraging or funny to a cm after a jerk was foul to him/her let alone the other trips we've taken. I had to do the same thing the other day at Starbucks when someone was incredibly rude to an employee there. I don't get it, I really don't. I've always told my kids that going out of your way to say or do something nice for someone feeds your soul and theirs so it's bizarre to me that anyone would use that same amount of time to say something unkind. I think too many people have a hugely inflated sense of entitlement these days and they are doing serious injury to their kids by teaching it to them. Personally, I think the cms are terrific for doing such a great job and for their motivations for having these jobs.
