I brought her a new cannula that had been soaked in a Bitter Apple flavored solution for pets, next visit, only a couple of the tiny needle holes! :D:
I wonder if ground jallepinio (sp?) pepper or oil would work as well. I expect that it would convince me to not nibble. A tiny pinch goes a long way. A liberal dusting would tend to cause avoidance. I have found that critters that use scent to identify and navigate tend to shy away, so I have used the powder to make a shield around sensitive areas or plants. It only takes a nearly invisible dusting in a circle around the protected area and repells before a "taste" is tried. And unless it is disturbed it does not perfume the air so you don't have to worry about having a home or yard that smells like pepper spray.

I use an extension pole to change our high light bulbs. The suction cup attachment has a string so you can release it once the bulb is in.
I laid it down. One of our cats decided to eat this long, thin string. Fortunately it passed in a bunch and did not get tangled and do internal damage. How much string did this cat eat? 8 FEET ! ! !
Feather wands, ping-pong balls, and fake mice work the best for our three cats. The Red Spot of Uncatchability (lazer pointer) works too.
If this is your first kitten, baby-proofing makes a good start, but that's all it is. A start. Kittens will get anywhere they can fit. Then the evil monsters turn around and play the cute card for all it's worth.
