I remember both the story and the restaurant chain... wow. I also remember when the chain disappeared and asking my parents why we couldn't eat there any more!felinefan wrote:...I remember the Sambo's restaurants, pancake houses actually, and ate in one once. I remember the walls had lighted pictures with illustrations from the story, and they are clearly Indian. I mean, the kid was wearing a turban, for goodness sake! ...

On our Alaska trip last summer our tour bus stopped at a nature preserve before continuing to the Port.
We were too late to see an elk drop her calf, but we all watched it get up for the first time. Much clapping and cheering when it was standing on it's own.

I read the story again and again it was without racism or hatred unto anyone. A fine story ruined by vicious hatemongers.

The rats came ashore from ships. Someone got the bright idea of importing mongooses to eat the rats. Problem is rats are nocturnal but the mongooses are out during the day.mechurchlady wrote:Hawaii is full of rats which some idiot decided could be exterminated by mongooses, lol. Mongoose, snakes and rats not native to Hawaii but survive.
The occasional snake sighting causes a massive response. Hawaii is scared to death that snakes will take hold and wipe out the bird population like what happened on Guam with the brown snake.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

They are pretty mellow little dudes. The orchid garden is pretty dense. No telling what they're growing in there.DisneyMom wrote:My hubby wants to know how your froggies got psychedelic......
