Zazu's Misguided Tour of the Magic Kingdom

Post by Zazu » Fri Feb 29, 2008 12:37 am

Okay gang, The Powers That Be have declared that I'm giving one of my "Misguided Tours" next Thursday. I can't be leading a big herd through the park or I could be mistaken for a Brazilian and I don't speak Portuguese. This means I gotta limit attendance.

If there are enough who want to go, and we finish the tour on Thursday, I can give a second tour on Friday.

So, with the understanding that the Bubble Ladies have first dibs, I'll open the reservation line. Please PM me if you just want to join in, but post to this thread if you have questions, as others may be wondering the same thing.

And yeah, it's free. Mickey wouldn't like it if I diverted the cash flow on his turf.

What would be the approximate times and durations?

Zazu, any chance of you recording the tour for posterity, like BW did with his bus spiel? I know it wouldn't be the same as being there, but it's hard to get my gang to give up a substantial chunk of our rare WDW visits for the tour, so I don't know if I'll ever get to experience it in person. I'd love to at least get an audio sampling of it.

OOOO. I second that request. And how does one get a copy of BW's bus spiel? One of our most magical experiences at MK was a little old VMK tour.

Yeah, someone could bring along a vid cam or just a audio recorder and tape the tour. What fun!!!!!

And yeah, where is this alleged Wallaby spiel recording? We wants to hear it!

And Zazu, you could PM us the vid to see it so you would not have to post it at youtube or anything!

Having once been on the receiving end of the Misguided Tour, I can state that there's nothing like the real thing. The only problem is that you'll be walking around afterward with a stunned look due the depth of Zazu's knowledge about the MK. SWMBO and I kept saying -"How does he know that!!" I really don't think a recording could do justice to the first hand experience.

I prefer to begin with breakfast, then get to the MK about 9:15, which means a PS for around 7:50 if at the Kona, perhaps earlier if farther away. The start time and location for Thursday and Friday hasn't been set yet.

The duration depends primarily on the stamina of the audience. I've had some families scream "uncle" after two hours, others stuck around until SpectroMagic. Thursday's tour will end not later than 4pm though, as I have another engagement that evening. Friday is limited only by park closing.

No. I'm working the material up for publication in a book, and I'm quite sure my publisher would prefer not to have a free version wandering around.

Besides, it's not like I've ever given the same tour twice. Each is tailored to the guests of the day, and to the entertainment schedule and other physical issues.

Trust me, if I could put it on a CD and just mail it out, I'd sleep in a lot more often!
