Is that....?
So there are a couple new streetmosphere people at Studios this week - Some really funny people actually, One of which (and I was never close enough to get her name) is playing a starlet role (actually I think she is playing a role closer to Dorma Nesmond's role, the "has been" star - then again I was not close enough to hear her the whole time). This lady is tall and wears a pinkish white wig, a red dress, and carries a fan. She has an offbeat manner, very dramatic and over the top at times. She was quite funny, but not as funny as a guest that approached me about her.
The guest comes up to me after staring at this new citizen of Hollywood for about two minutes. (I actually noticed them standing their ten feet away staring at her before they came up to me.) In a very puzzling manner they asked me, "Is that Walt Disney's wife?" I said, "If it is, she looks good for her age, doesn't she!?!" That would probably drive most guests away laughing - but not this lady. She then said, "No, thats his wife right?" I told them that no, she was a citizen of Hollywood. She looked unsatisfied, like I was lying and walked away.

:D: That's a riot!
I guess if it were really Norma Desmond, then she'd... well, I guess I better not spoil Sunset Boulevard for those of you who haven't seen it. I've only seen it on the stage, not in the theatre.
I think Lillian Disney passed away about eleven years ago anyway. She'd be probably over 100 by this point. I'm surprised that this would even cross anyone's mind. I mean, I wouldn't expect anyone to know Norma Desmond, but Walt Disney's wife? Hmm...

I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille!
"Excuse me, are those ducks real?"
"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

I believe that is the character you were talking about.
They are now officially called Citizens of Hollywood.

That's pretty cool - I wish we had real atmosphere characters like that in DCA. We had them 2 years ago at Tower of Terror for Halloween, but never just because it's Hollywood.

They used to do a show by Muppetvision/Award Wieners with a couple of overly dramatic 20's looking actresses. I cant remember the last time I saw them since now they seem to have more character meet and greets in the area.GuestJockey wrote:That's pretty cool - I wish we had real atmosphere characters like that in DCA. Seems like they have more at MK than DCA, maybe after the refurb they will add some. i remember fairly large crowds gathering to watch the performance but not like the guys that play the garbage cans in tommorowland, those guys are very cool.

On a semi-related note: I miss the Magic Kingdom Korps (at Disneyland) and Groove 66 (at DCA)! They were fantastic, IMO.

nope, if you watch the video there is no hat, so that video is from before 2000. This character is brand new, as in just started that day or that week. trust me I am out there like every day. I read that they make their own character up so no other person plays the same character, though some dress alike.... and paige turner has like a twin that dresses the same but is a worse actress.
