I was a cast member for 7 months. After seeing the way cast members are treated by Disney I packed my bags and came home. So yes, I do know what it's like to have to deal with stupid guests. (The worst being a woman who walked off and left her 6 month old sitting in the stroller. She didn't come back for about 20 mins.)

Felinefan-Can you please explain to me why I must be getting a job in Vegas or with a sports team? I thought finishing up my undergrad studies then going to med school sounded like a better idea. Continuing on with your idea that my generation lacks the skills to operate a theme park could you please explain to me why the majority of front line CMs are CPs. For those of you who don't work at Disney a CP is a College Program student (a college student from my generation.) Sorry for not understanding this, it must have something to do with the fact that I am not smart enough for Mensa.
Don't stereotype all young people based on such a small minority
Funny this seems like the point I was trying to make, except It was don't sterotype all cheerleaders based on such a small majority.

I apologize ahead of time if my spelling and grammer are not perfect, but like you said all my generation can do is text, we don't have the communication skills to do anything else.

Do you know what percentage of CM's are CP as opposed to seasonal/par-time/full time?

If you don't could you tell me how you arrived at the conclusion that CP's made up the "majority"?

I didn't think Disney published these employment statistics, if they do, could anyone point me to where I could see them. I would honestly love to see it (I'm geeky that way..:D :)

The thing is ...you gave it 7 months and decided the job wasn't for you. That's fine and your choice and I am sure that can apply to any job. You are going to find stupid guests in most every job that deals with the public. The folk who have been with Disney for years and years love their jobs or they would not still be there. Yes they may complain verbally, but that is a healthy way (as opposed to resorting to taking a machine gun to work with them) to vent frustrations. Everybody gets upset from time to time, even cheerleaders. It is all in how you deal with it is what matters. Venting on a "pretty much" annonymous message board about people you dont know personally but have had personal contact with is a safe way to do it.

Yes at times you may have to take a job you dont like. Most people who are not desperate for work will pick and choose which job they prefer. For instance, I could use a job myself to suppliment our household expenses (well really my crafting and Disney hobbies) but I am not going to go out and apply for something at an auto repair shop because
1. I have no knowledge of it
2. I dont like mechanical repairs (tho I can do a mean toilet repair) and
3. It just doesnt interest me.
Apparantly Disney had some interest for you at some point or you would have never applied there in the first place. If you were going through a college program (OR CP AS YOU SO "NICELY" INFORMED US UNAWARE DISNEY LOVING PEOPLE WHO PROBABLY NEED EXPLAINED TO US WHAT MK AND WDW MEAN TOO :rolleyes :) there were probably more choices for credits. Why did you chose Disney? Why not another park or venue? For those you who dont know, venue can mean working at a grocery store or gas station too.
:p:
OH and by the way the college program has been around for quite a while longer then your generation. I am old, Like the cryptkeeper, and could have done it if I so chose.

So what was so wrong with how you were treated as an Disney employee? Did you have to show up for work and do what the managers told you to? Did you actually "HAVE" to work? Were you not used to being told what to do and when to do it? Guess WHAT Sweetie,? That is what the working world is. It is not all peaches and cream and pixie dust.

And just to clarify, no one said ALL cheerleaders were stupid, just the ones who are annoying by being loud and obnoxious in public and think that they are better then everyone else because they are used to getting their own way due to their High School mentality social status.

OH and before I forget (since I am old and my memory is quite what it used to be) A few words of advice for you.........
Get to know the feel for a message board and the people there before jumping in and attacking people's livelihoods (that means a job btw) on your very first post. NOT a way to win friends.

Uptown,

Yep, I is as stupid as they come. I only finished high school, went with my wife (then my girlfriend) to a couple of her college classes one day. That is the extent of my college education. To be honest, I didn't listen to the professor. I was busy thinking of other things. These days I earn a modest living making sure you are able to get mail from one place to another, just one example from the many things we do here. I would discuss more, but you are above what I do for a living and I would probably bore you with any more details.

I think that a lot of former cheerleaders who wanted to be doctors 'cause the don't eat meat, are working on the Dihydrogen Monoxide problems that are plaguing current cheerleaders!

http://www.dhmo.org/

This stuff is DANGEROUS!! IF you ingest this into your lungs, you can stop breathing!!!

High school kids, YES High school kids have been seen taking DHMO to enhance their athletic abilities (Cheerleading???)

I KNOW!! (hehe) but research has shown taht it has and is being used on a daily basis by a LOT of americans. Some indications are that some bar owners have even used it in cheap beer as a "filler"

we have to stop this!!!
