Aren't there any decent apartment complexes near WDW?

I live in the Legacy Dunes complex off US-192, west of WDW. They rent 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom apartments. The management company needs to be nagged a little bit to get stuff done, but that's true with any apartment complex.

I also may have a friend looking for a roommate. Not sure what your timeline is for moving down here, but if they need someone, it'd most likely be an ASAP type deal ... PM me if you're interested.

I live in Camden World Gateway off of I-Drive South. I am right by that hideous Nickelodeon hotel. I am about 5 minutes from DTD and Epcot so it is REALLY convenient for me. Thats funny i live there too, im sorry that you couldnt get an idea of how much it is there, i know ive lived here for about 3 years and love it, i just renewed my lease and it was right around 800 for a 1 bedroom.

$800.00 is a lot of money. I don't see how anybody making only a little over minimum wage can afford that.

That is very literal. Although, looking at me, you would never know. I mean, the starving part.

Your best bet would be someone who has a house and is renting a room. That runs about $400 or so most of the time. I'll check around for you.

According to the website of the Orlando Housing Authority, the average Disney wage apparently qualifies you for a Section 8 voucher in the "VLI" area of Orlando, wherever that is.

I know a few DL CMs who are on the programme, and they say that it does help them meet the cost of living on their wages (which, compared to WDWs, are completely out of proportion to the cost of living).

they start at under 700 a month for a small place but are half what we pay out in california. I check a place about a hour out from San Diego and it was $1500 but in Georgia it was under 1000.

Best bet is to get 2 room mates in a 3 bedroom and pay 400 a month lol or get bunk beds and sneak in 12 people for 100 a month lol.

Problem is, by having my wife and me working, we overqualify. A single person in a one-room apartment might be able to qualify. It's quite sad. Then, I go drive through the one behind the Magic Kingdom, and it's pretty obvious that some people there are making a lot more money than I am, judging by their cars...

So the logical next question: How are they proving their income?

I would say that we have three people living in a one bedroom and it works fine for me. The two girls share the bedroom with two singles, and whenever I am there I sleep on an air mattress in the living room. That makes it about 300 a month when I am there, $450 when I am not there.

I'll do that but I'm not going to hold out hope. I've tried applying for Foodstamps before and though I should qualify the government says I don't because of money I get from my family. I get that money only because I haven't been able to afford my rent on the hours I've been making.

Apartments cost a LOT more down there than I thought they would. I'll have to find a roommate or something though I would much prefer to have a place to myself.

Have you considered renting a garage apartment in Celebration? There are tons available, and it's better than being in a complex.

These are great ideas also. I have not heard from my friend yet. Still waiting. He is in the same boat, low wages and living in his own apt.
