Sounds like you're having a good time... and yes, the carts are a godsend... you don't usually realize that til ya have to take something really heavy from one end of the park to the other. I've recently learned how much I appreciate the carts myself... besides, if you're there before the park opens you can take them onstage and do donuts

God must love stupid people. He made so many of them.

Ok so fo those of you who were curious i did some research for you CT types on main gate passes etc. You get like has been said two comp tickets in the summer and two in the winter. After 4 seasons of service as a CT you can get a main gate pass however it is restricted as far as admission and blockout days even more so than the regualr gate passes. Converting to CR should be a breeze just put in your aplication now because the rumor i heard from casting is to expect another DCA style ramp-up to the 50th. Transferrign to Guest Relations might prove difficult since they usually look for at least 1 year of expericnec as a CR or higher for all transfers. Good luck, and try not to run us pedestrian types over backstage :D
Guests are a lot like children, either they never listen or they think you are lying even when your not!!

Hey Cloud, that "Austing Powers" flashback you had in the tunnel? Yeah, I actually saw somebody do that! I'm not kidding! Yes, we pointed and laughed. It was classic.
What you've heard about DS/NS is true when it comes to the worst guy running circles around the best people on parade side. Day and Night Show are kinda like Delta Force: you get the crap jobs done, and it's best when people don't question your motives or methods. Otherwise you'll have to eliminate them.

LOL!!! I see what you mean. Did on-the-job training for about a week (shadowing people) and my first real assignment was Friday as Night Show 13. So far I really like DS/NS a lot! I like that you called us the "Delta Force" of DLR, I had actually been calling us the "Men In Black". Not just because of our costumes, but because we have all the toys, we have all the KEYS, we walk in and out of anywhere when we please usually unnoticed, and always unquestioned except by newbs. People that have been there a while know better than to question us, because we always win. (Unless, I suppose, we're doing something really stupid)nitro-junkie wrote:What you've heard about DS/NS is true when it comes to the worst guy running circles around the best people on parade side. Quick question for you Nitro -- when I call in available, would it help at all if I called the Show 2 desk as well as the daily scheduler? I called in this morning (about 4 hours ago) and haven't been called back. I know, they might just not work me, but I really want them to.

Alright Cloud, checkitout: Back in my day (a whopping 4 years ago), I always made sure to call in available to the schedulers, and then make a call to Show 2/Parade 2 or 3, etc...if I happened to know who was working that day and was on good terms with them. It can't hurt, and if somebody says you're being a pain in the butt, then just badger the schedulers twice as hard, to make up for not calling the actual lead. Schedulers earn no sympathy. Get that money!
As far as being the "Men in Black", well my friend, the MIB's were the nickname for the tow drivers during Light Magic, and if you get a chance try to scope the cast/crew photo and you'll see what I mean. That's Benny represezzin' with the logo. One of the best tow drivers EVER.
(R.I.P. Benny, we miss ya!)
Sounds like you're well on your way Cloud. Keep it up. But, uh, what the heck is Show 13??? Used to be it only went to Show 11, the I.C. guys in the Cage.

God how I hated driving front of the LM "stages". Coming off of the Hub in Delta was a BEEYOTCH to get lined up for the screen.
So much better when I moved over to Tow, and got to help the drivers from OUTside.
"Bravo, call the ball."

Well I don't know how it was then, but now here's how it is:nitro-junkie wrote:Sounds like you're well on your way Cloud. Keep it up. But, uh, what the heck is Show 13??? Used to be it only went to Show 11, the I.C. guys in the Cage.
Show 1 - DS/NS Manager...unlike most departments, her callsign is pretty much meaningless as she's never on radio or in the field. Show 1 is a completely administrative position.
Show 2 - DS/NS Lead. This is also an administrative job, but Show 2 is always on radio, and is basically the go-to-guy for all job requests, vehicles, etc. For all intents and purposes, Show 2 is really the equivalent of the "ONE" (i.e., Parade 1, Entertainment 1, Satellite 1, etc.)for DS/NS.
Show 10 - DS/NS Foreman. Show 10 is the go-to-guy for everything and anything. All department's primary contact for all immediate needs. When there is no Show 2 (such as early mornings or after about 5 PM), Show 10 also answers for Show 2.
After that the crew is numbered Show 11 - Show 14. It doesn't really matter which, just whichever you're assigned for the day, they have no special signifigance. We rarely have enough crew to go up to 14, much less pass it (keep in mind there's "Day Show 11" AND "Night Show 11"). But for some reason if we ever do have more than that, the callsigns skip all the way to Show 31.
Show 31 - Show 33 are reserved for MMD (Magic Music Days). During peak MMD season, we'll have people come in as DSS 31 - DSS 33 just to do RHE/RHW or Studio A / B resets. Some people actually like doing this. Personally, doing resets in N-18 are my absolute least favorite jobs. I'd rather do PM Shuttle L!!!
So I haven't gotten quite as many shifts as I've wanted, but I am starting to make my mark. I managed to get them to Tram train me already, and I had my first Tram shift last night! (Trams pay a $0.75 premium.)

What are you talking about? Should have been easy with those Magnets that were supposed to help you line it up ;-)

Oh, Nomad....did you ever get to see what the magnets looked like on the scanner? Can you say "shot in the dark?" Anyhooo....there was the one night during rehearsal when my buddy Mark was taping down the temporary magnets, and a Main St. CM asks "What are those for?" "They're for the LM floats, to get them in position." The Main Streeter looked stumped for a moment and then said (I sh*t you not) "But how do those little magnets pull those huge floats along?"
Cloud: Yes, I remember re-sets for MMD and the rehearsal halls. Moving chairs for band-geeks. Great. Good on ya for getting those shifts. Keep after it.
