A little later she came back shaking her head. She had gone over, found the parents, and said that shoes with wheels were not permitted in the park and that they would have to pop the wheels. She told me the father said OK and they just kept walking deeper into the park. She told them a second time and they still kept acknowledging her statement and walking on.

She actually had to threaten to eject them if they did not remove the wheels right then.
That is why I tell the Security officers where I work to wrestle them to the ground!!!!!!

I teach high school and kids just ignore the rules. Now I know that they get it from their irresponsible parents. So what does the administration do? The drop the rules. The inmates run the asylum...

The public schools in Hawaii have been dumbed down to the point of no return. The majority of parents don't care and some actively do their best to help their kids fail so they won't leave home. Here's a good summation from an alternative newspaper.

That is perfect, Hobie 16. The kids I teach won't be very successful even in menial jobs, because they have no respect for anyone. They'll sass and backtalk their employer, and show up when they feel like it. Late. They won't last very long. They don't think the rules apply to them, and they've been brought up without any manners. [rant]

Some kids are being raised right. My brother teaches at an inner-city middle school in Orlando and according to him the students are great. There is very little disciplinary action needed and the students work hard. This is a school where nearly all of the students are living below poverty level and a few are even homeless.

It just breaks my heart to think that kids are living at that level of poverty at all, anywhere in the world- let alone so close to the 'Happiest Place on earth" :(

It is very sad.

The school's principal works at WDW some and has some connections there. Back in December he was able to get WDW to let the students in for free for a day. The school provided breakfast and lunch and each student had to pay $5.00 to pay for the buses. This was on the day the Christmas Parade was filmed for TV and all the students had to do was watch the parade, the rest of the day they were split up in groups and had fun in the Magic Kingdom. I guess the crowd levels were expected to be low that day and that's why that particular day was chosen, to boost the crowds to look better on TV.

Despite living pretty near this was the first time ever going to Disney for the majority of the students and may be the only time for many of them sadly.

That is awesome! Shorty, I am PMing you to find out the name of that school. I am getting my Master's in Education and want to return to Orlando to teach and work at Disney PT. I remember one time I performed at a special event for Restore Hope Orlando, a mission for some of the kids who are affected by poverty. We had Goofy, Donald, and Daisy at the event, and the kids were grateful and well behaved (well, for the most part.) I still have a little plastic ducky that a girl gave me. Even though these kids probably didn't have a lot of material items, they still kept trying to give us their prizes from the games.

EeyoresButterfly wrote:All CM's I know will stop it if they see it. At the entrance, they make them take the wheels out, but the stupid kids just pop them in when they get around the corner. We should have a confiscation system: If we see them, we take the wheels and YOU have to pay for the shipping to your house!
That idea sounds great to me (or at the least, take the wheels out and send them to GR in an envelope with the name on it).

That would be great!

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!
