Re: Flat Elizabeth
Flat Elizabeth is a variation on the Flat Stanley. He is a character from a book that somehow becomes flat and his parents mail him all over the place in an envelope. School children sometimes make their version of this to send out at the beginning of the year to other schools and freinds and family to learn a bit of geography and about other folks and areas. Very cute idea. A little journal accompanies most of the flat folk so the kids can see where and when they have been. Some "hosts" of the Flats also send some small item along with the little critter (something flat obviously) as a sort of souvenier.
I actually have been thinking about doing one for Meghyn for a few years but wanted to wait till she could comprehend geography better. Funny that this came up when it did as I was planning on working on it after our March trip. Be on the lookout for Mini Meghyn. HEHEHE! Flat Meghyn just sounded weird. LOL
Wikipedia has a large article on Stanley and his counterparts. I would like to find a copy of the book before doing Meghyn's so she can understand the concept better. Great primer for next year of cyber-Kindergarten. If anyone finds the book super cheap (a few bucks or less) give me a holler. I dont want to shell out much for a book she might not be interested in later. Well we could always send out a Flat Wallaby or Flat Zazu after Mini Meghyn makes her rounds :D:

Oh, too bad I didn't see this earlier. I would have liked to treat our Flat Elizabeth to a day at Disneyland... Heck, she could even sell tickets with us!

I really like the Flat Wallaby Idea! Wallaby could use his smilie and send it flat to someone one on SGT, then that person could send it to someone else (PM the addresses!) At the end Wallaby can post a "Trip Report"! FUN! :D:

Why, sure! I think a Flat Wallaby would be superb. So how do I start it?
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Print out a picture you want to act as your Wallaby, I guess cut it out and then send him on his way. If you get it going soon I can take him on his first adventure :)Big Wallaby wrote:Why, sure! I think a Flat Wallaby would be superb. So how do I start it?

OK....Big Wallaby wrote:Why, sure! I think a Flat Wallaby would be superb. So how do I start it?
*Print out a pic on cardstock or draw one, whichever(heavyweight paper)
*Cut to shape
*Laminate it (clear contact paper will work, make sure to leave a bit over to seal the edges with)
*Get a small journal to accompany him
*Set up some rules (how long the critter can be kept before having to send it on--1-2 weeks max, what can and cant be included--up to you whether you want it to accumulate larger items or be kept to things that can be put in an envelope-cheaper shipping costs, g-rated or not
* start a sign up thread (add ppl as they become interested--edit is a function needed for this)
*First person PM's 2nd on list when they are ready to send to them to get their addy, then 2nd PM's 3rd, so on and so forth. ---if the next person is unreachable within a certain amount of days(3 is good) put them at the bottom of the list (edit function benefit) and move on to the next person till you get a response.
OPT-----you can make it a current event kinda thing like as the person who has just hosted can maybe post some pics and a little info on what the LW(little wallaby) did while he was with them. You can again use that cool edit function (that we are not privy to ;) ) and post links to the actual post# that person's entry on the thread. Keep their name up on the sign up list and just change the color of their name and just put the link right under it
I have to wait till after we come back from WDW to start on that. MOM you need to join some of the swaps I run on DWT. You would enjoy them. The next one isnt till April but I will post a link on here as soon as signup start.DisneyMom wrote:Meghyn could do hers soon as well!
