Shopping pass?????????

Post by Eeyore Tattoo » Mon Feb 04, 2008 10:54 pm

We are going to California in May, We won't be able to spend time in the park, But I heard somewhere about a 45 minute shopping pass.
I would love to run in and get something from the Emporium. Do these shopping passes exist?

I don't work at DL but I would guess that someone is definitely pulling your leg. It wouldn't make sense because Disney would have no way of knowing who was there on a shopping pass- people could cheat the system and use it to play in the park. I think DL has a DTD, and if it's like WDW, the merchandise there should be the same as the merchandise in the park, and there is no entrance fee.

I don't know about Disneyland either, but we have that at WDW.

It's pretty idiot-proof. The guest buys a regular one-day park pass, and if they return it within one hour *with* a store receipt, they get a refund.

Come back late, don't bring a receipt, no refund. Period.

Think of it as another revenue source.

Yes ,Disneyland does have a shopping pass. Inquire at the Guest Relations/Group Tickets window. (It's on the side of the exit, next to the Newsstand.) They will put down the price of admission to DL on your credit card and will void the transaction if you return within the alloted time. If you need more time (i.e. long lines, difficult transaction) ask a Cast Member to call Guest Relations for an extension (I don't know how long the extension is-never had this problem.).
You will be surprised how quickly the time goes by-so watch your time! Failure to do so will result in you getting charged admission.
Sometimes DL blacks out shopping passes esp. when it's busy. I remember years ago, when Tommorowland officially reopened, they would not let me get a pass so I could get some of the items that the Monerail Gift Shop ran out of.
I was able to go through most of the major shops through various lands, but then again, I have been to DL so many times,I know which shops are most likely to have what I want.
Hope this helps :)

Actually, since I do these daily, let me let you in on the way we do it.

Shopping passes are given out at the Guest Services Building from when the park opens until 4pm, and they are good for ONE hour. We will ask you for credit card, but we DO NOT charge it if you are out of the park within that hour. We DO make an imprint of the card and verify your address. We will stamp the left hands of EVERYONE in the party that is going into the park, and EVERYONE must come back out in order for you to not get charged.

Once you are finished with your hour, you come back to the Guest Services Building and we give you the imprint of your card back, so you can destroy it and know that we won't charge it. We will ask you how much money you spent, but it's just for the records.

IF, for any reason, ALL members of your party do not come out of the park, or you are over your hour (we are kinda lenient with a LITTLE over!!) we WILL charge your credit card for the amount of a one day admission for each person not at the window. If we are crowded, and there is a line: Don't stress, but just make sure you catch one of the CM's eyes, and flash a bag so that we know you're coming back off a shopping pass, and we're good. You'll finish standing in line, but we won't charge you if you're late, due to the fact that you were out of the park and in our line, but someone needs to know that you're back.

ALSO:

IF you want to go shopping after 4pm, you can still do so at Booth 5. Booth 5 is the one directly in front of the Guest Services Building, closest to Disneyland. The only difference being that they do not have the option of the shopping pass "free" ticket, and will charge your card for the entrance, and when you return within your time period, they will issue you a credit for the admission.

Hope this helped..

Knott's has a 45 minute shopping pass, but why would you want to go there???? It works the same way.
