Regarding the Character problems, we are talking about the scenarios that don't happen very often. Still, if you are working Monorails long enough, I'll be joining you eventually, so long as I am allowed to pick up shifts (a lot) at KSR.

I got one recently but I'll see about getting a trim this Friday. I doubt I'll have the time next week, I asked for long shifts at work to try to avoid losing any hours.

Yeah, I know. Still hard not to let the bad things you hear about a role not make you think twice when that's all you hear.

I could always transfer into Monorails or into another role later. One thing that Monorails has going for it for me is that my uncle drove them a long time ago and enjoyed it and I think I would too. I don't think I could handle driving a bus though. It's not the size of the vehicle so much though, I could learn to handle that. It's that I'm afraid MiMs would drive me nuts quickly and if they got rid of that I'm not really a spieler so don't consider myself appropriate for that role. It is also the safety aspect, I'd be responsible for a lot of lives and there are lots of stupid drivers out there. At least on the monorails there is no traffic other than other trains and there are numerous safety systems to keep them safely apart.

I'm kind of on the fence about being a Character Attendant. The stories in that other thread are scaring me a little. I don't want to have to get confrontational with guests too often. I know that it isn't that often where you have to get confrontational but I don't know what the average is between good and bad guests in that role. On the other hand the ability to make some magic and to actually be in the parks would be nice. I also sorta like the idea of being able to work all over WDW, all four parks, the resorts, character meals, etc.

There are good and bad about every role. For character attendant, I think the good far outweighs the bad. Like you mentioned, it is a lot of fun to work in all 4 parks. And I love getting to see the looks on kids' faces when meeting the characters. Good luck!

That's why I think I'd enjoy that role, getting to see and have a hand in making children happy.

My brother is a seasonal character attendant and really enjoys it and he thinks I would too. I've heard some SG stories from him before and I think I'll call him in a few days to get some good guest stories.

I have witnessed him create magic before, off the clock but was able to because he was a character attendant. Back in July when my family went down we visited Epcot one day and while there he disappeared backstage a few times and when he came back he made sure we were where characters coming onstage could greet our little cousin before going on to their spots. I remember Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie coming out of a gate by where we were sitting. Genie went on to where the crowd of people were already waiting but Aladdin and Jasmine greeted our cousin by name and stayed long enough for an autograph and a picture. The look on her face was priceless. My brother was able to do this and a few other things because he is a character attendant and thus knew a number of the characters and attendants.

My brother went backstage when we made it to Canada and when he came out a while later he took us down to that big waterfall there. A few minutes later he started us all up the wood path and then he told our cousin to move over, someone was trying to get by. It was Koda! Our cousin loves Brother Bear so was excited to get to actually meet one of them. They played together a little once we got to the main path. She was very excited at this. I'm smiling thinking about these magical moments my brother was able to make for our cousin because he works with the characters.

I'm envious that you get to go to WDW, but I'm pleased you'll be interviewing while you're down there. I want to hear all about it when you get back.

I won't be able to spend as much time in the parks as I was hoping. My brother and SIL have things they have to do during my time down there, including a few things they want me to do with them.

All day Saturday and hopefully Sunday afternoon will be spent in the parks. I'll have to do a lot of hopping to do everything on my must-do list. Possibly some time Monday through the early afternoon but that is really iffy.

It's looking like I'll have to go commando-style through the parks. That's not my style but will be the only way to squeeze everything I want to do in.
