To Spot A "Faker!"
Re: To Spot A "Faker!"
Last fall when we were in the MK for EMH evening- I got cut off by an ECV. The man walking beside it kind of smiled sheepishly and then said "People don't understand how hard it is to get through the park with one of these things till somebody in your party is using one!" He then said that a stroller had cut them off, causing them to cut in front of my chair and cause my motor, aka Hubby, to E stop.
It was only a moment later, when we were in a more well lighted area when I realized that the man's CHILD was driving the ECV. My eyebrows must've gone up a foot and he said "Grandma went back to the resort for the night and he was tired so we figured we'd let him drive."
It wasn't until later when my dad rented an ECV that I saw the new thing you have to sign saying the operator is 18. If I'd have known, I'd have flagged down the first CM I saw and had junior busted.
What kind of guest lets a little kid drive an ECV in a crowded theme park at NIGHT in the DARK???
Oh yeah. Well, come to think of it, my parents let me drive the golf cart around lake buena vista when I was 11.
I was better at it than my legally driving sister, who almost got us out into the main drag of traffic once from the shopping village.
Ah, memories.

At Ft Wilderness they sign a form and are verbally warned that ONLY licensed drivers are allowed to drive the carts. But I see MANY 5 and 6 yr old "licensed drivers". But last Oct many of the drivers doing the most dangerous cart driveing were WAY old enough to know better. The safest cart driver (tho illegal) was the little girl in the site across from me who was "practicing driving" in advance of taking the learners test upon arriving home. (I spoke to the parent and so know the rational.) I did see the sheriff drive through the loop several times a day and this youth driver was never caught. But I did see one cart driver caught and ticketed (parents making a LOUD fuss). And one child (probably all of 4 yrs old) on a pocket racer motorcycle being detained. Again the parent was making a big fuss that they "let him do it at home and there is no problem". But I had seen that same child practically driving under several cars at full speed (but avoiding it by zipping past the stopped car where an opening door would remove a head). And many times the child would park the bike right next to the restroom door because he didn't want to walk far and only had to open the door a little to get inside.

Good ol' golf carts. We had one loaded with six kids on board do a clown car curb-to-curb death wobble down our street, thread between my truck and a car on the other side of the driveway, and crash into a palm tree in the front yard.February wrote:Oh yeah. Two kids unconscious, two through the windshield, two in a planted area and the golf cart chassis folded like a bad hand in a game of celebrity poker.

We have a friend who got a golf cart that was upgraded. Better wiring, but best of all, better gearing. It can get up to 40 MPH.

Yeah, Pirate I knew that was coming LOL I thought about going back to put it in too but I knew someone would do it for me! I was headed to bed by that point my husband was grumpy cause his team lost the big game and so the evening was sooooo ov-ah.Ummmm A STUPID GUEST???
Hey hobie, sounds like some real Darwin Awards runners up there on that cart! We once crammed 8 people on a cart to get from the Villa to the Shopping Village for dinner- including my eighty year old great grandmother.
I question this now as an adult knowing that 4 of those passengers were children (myself included) and I have to wonder what the h e double hockey sticks my parents were thinking!
My cousin once ran over a pole that had the recharger plugs for the carts in the village in it and knocked it over. . .she was a licensed driver at the time.
When I enrolled in drivers ed (four years after my last golf cart driving stint) and the instructor asked me if I'd driven before.
I looked at her straight and said, "Drove a golf card in Disney World once."
She was afraid but in the end the car she had us learn in was so tiny it actually drove like the golf cart and I passed the test and class without incident.
Both of my siblings however were not so successful the first time around so I guess the Golf Cart as drivers ed is a bad idea after all eh? ;)

I only watch the commercials. . .
I told him at least if his home state had to lose one- they took the series last year :)
Red Sox win much more important in this house than Patriots loss LOL

I being a CM and a person with a disability am faced with a dilemma. Technically CMs aren't supposed to use GAC cards but I figure I get so little time off from work that the least they could do is make my day off easier. I don't think of myself as a "faker" but with a non-apparent disability it is a lot harder to convince people of the need for the GAC card.
