At the same time, if you go backstage, you have to have it showing. I, for one, am a stickler on that one. If I see you backstage not in costume, I had better see an ID.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

If I was a CM I wouldn't want to wear my ID onstage when not working. I'm there to have fun and wouldn't want to get bothered by guests looking for things all the time. Sometimes is OK and has happened to me before but I could see guests seeing the ID and bombarding one with questions.

On my last trip I noticed by brother always kept his lanyard w/ ID stuck in his wallet with the strap wrapped around it. This way it was out of the way but he had it handy whenever he needed it.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

Funny you mention that. I don't wear my lanyard out, but yet people still manage to figure out I'm a CM. It's like I have "I WORK HERE" tattooed on my forehead. An example- I like to sit in Frontierland by the gate near Splash to watch the 2nd Spectro (if there is one). Once when I was there waiting (in street clothes, reading a book), a guest came up to me and asked me directions.

I always have my ID displayed backstage. After 9/11 I am always suspicious if I don't see an ID on a person in street clothes backstage. Once I saw a man talking a phone backstage and I asked him what he was doing. He just stepped out an Emergency Exit Door by Soarin' that happens to be by the Land break room.

That's sure not my experience. Both at MK and now at the hotel, backstage areas are crawling with people who have no IDs showing. At neither location have I ever been offered a lanyard, nor have I ever been asked to show ID except at Security posts, cash registers, or turnstiles.

Where is all this fun backstage security that I seem to keep missing?!?

Maybe they recognize you and run the other way. :D: ;)

I normally carry my ID in my wallet. However, if I am in a park as a Guest and thinking about going backstage I will bring a cardholder on a clip with me and just before I go backstage I will put my ID in the holder and clip it to my shirt, where it will remain until I'm back onstage.

Whether or not somebody stops you I think depends on how "out of place" you look. We have one poor kid who helps out Peter Pan who really does look like he is somewhere between 9-12 years old. Apparently security is used to all of the short women who look like they're kids (if you need help with that one, PM me), but not guys. Security always stops him to ask where his parents on, even when he is in his backstage clothes that we all wear! He really gets sick of it.

I know exactly who you're talking about! It's kinda funny though.

Another CM that got themselves fired ...

Attraction X is short staffed to begin with. "CM Y" puts in for an ER at 14:00, is denied, because attraction is short staffed. All of a sudden, Y isn't feeling well, and "needs an ROS by 14:00". Management reminds CM that an ROS is not automatic, and that if she's not feeling well, they'd be happy to call an Alpha for her. Y declines.

At roughly 13:10, coordinator "C" receives a radio call, asking him to please telephone the Attraction X breakroom for an "emergency" situation. He calls, and speaks to Y, who still wants to go home and is unhappy that management won't let her leave. I was standing next to C at the time, and his part of the conversation included the phrase "There will be repercussions if you do that"

C and I return to our office to eat. We're interrupted by a phone call from the cast at Attraction X, who say that Y has not bumped into rotation, and that one CM thinks they saw Y leaving. C races over to the breakroom (abandoning his lunch) only to find no trace of Y, except for a note that she has left, apparently saying something along the lines of she likes her job and doesn't want to get fired.

Next day, Y shows up for work ... and leaves about half an hour later, with a management escort.
