Two Quickies

Post by Driver_dylan » Sat Jan 26, 2008 10:08 am

1) How do you guys at other attractions deal with the groups of 100 or more Brizilians? Not ranting, Just curious?

2) Have you ever been put in a situation by a guest that you knew you had no good way out for an answer? That happened to me yesterday when a a guest walked up to the line that marks the front cab access. Unfortunatlly, I had already offered the front to another party. At this point the train entered the station and I put the group who had asked first in the train. As I'm doing this the group who had just walked up started to yell at me about the fact that they were waiting. I explained that they had already asked and had been there longer, and the group countered with, "But they weren't in line."

Now I know how annoying the whole situation was, but I can't say that they were exactly wrong with their assessment.

VISA. It's everywhere you want to be, and a lot of places you don't.

At the Boat Ride we just throw the Brazilians through fastpass. Even thought it may peeve people in standby it saves everyone the frustration of spending extra time with them.

As for the Monorail incident: My opinion...You tell em what you told them. The first group had already been offered the cab and they were first! Any backtalk from the nasty group after that, would be rude and if it got to be too much, call a lead. You handled it fine. THEY were wrong with their assessment. You already told them the other group was first and the irate group got the stirring feelings of entitlement gurgling in their gut, because THEY wanted to be FIRST (oh boo hoo hoo) and pushed it...Jackasses!

There really is no real defined *line* for the cab, or is there? And if there is not really a *line* for the front cab, since very few can do it and most will not wait that long to form an hour long line, then they have no gripe. And being that there were only the two groups, that makes the SGs even more of jackasses!!!! The other group was clearly offered the cab first! Period. End of argument with irate second group!

Or WILL people really line up for an hour just to ride in the front cab? Just curious. Then you could have directed the first group WHERE to stand, IF that is the case. But it was a petty and porous argument on the part of the second SG group, that they were NOT in line! There was NO line, just two groups who wanted to ride the front cab. SGs!!!!
NOT your fault! You handled yourself well in my book.
See ya in the front cab in May! :) And we will be nice about it! We will wait our turn if we are not *first in line*

I rightfully cannot answer the first part of your post not being a CM. And we have been lucky, we have never run into the Brazilian tour groups on our trips. :D: I hope that does not mean we are due for our share of their special brand of *magic* from what I hear!

Reminds me of the joke: George Bush is told that Brazil has pledged 6,000 Brazilians to help with the war in Iraq. Bush says, "That's great! How much is a brazillion?

"Excuse me, are those ducks real?"
"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

1)Brazil Tour Groups...... here's how we handle them in F-land:
Pan- If they have FP, split the group up. I dont care if they are all together, I am not letting any more than 40 through FP. If no FP, we split them up at merge. I am not letting more than 10 through from standby. 2 in each boat.

Small World- tell the group leader 4 per row, let them group themselves. most of them are skinny little 16 year olds, so if they want to squeeze 5 or 6 in a row, more power to them. We don't load other parties with them if they do not take up a full boat out of courtesy to the regular guests.

Carrousel- never really seen them there, load them normally.

Philhar- if they have FP, tell the group leader to keep all the tickets together in one stack rather than hand them out individually so merge doesn't have to sit there and collect 50-100 tickets (we have a turnstyle counter right there. besides, philhar loads 500 at a time so FP isn't a big deal. Pack them tightly into lobby, hope there is a CM that speaks Portugese in theatre, and don't let them sit in the middle at any cost!

Dumbo- load 2 per elephant, usually takes 2 cycles to get them through. sometimes it's easier not to give them flight tickets since they like to steal them. if it gets overloaded, make them wait for the next one no biggie with a group that big.

Snow- 9 per car. if they go less, no biggie. as long as they don't step over the yellow lines and into a moving car, they are not a big problem.

Pooh- 4-6 per car, if FP same deal as Pan.

Teacups- load regularly, cover ears, repeat.

My best results came from finding the group leader -- the one with the flag -- and explaining to them how many per seat, and whatever else they need to know. They can then explain it to their group, and generally they sort themselves out into the right sized groups once they know what the drill is.

Naturally, this would work better on the railroad or a dark ride than a theater attraction, but I'd try it there too.

The wonderful cm at POC loaded about 20 Brazilians into a boat and held back me and the 3 people ahead of me. The 3 people started to protest, and I assured them the cm was doing them a huge favor. :D: When I was at WDW in early Dec. most of the Brazilian groups were dressed in bright yellow outfits, so they were easy to spot. The only poor behavior I saw on my trip was a few of the girls sitting in the middle of a sidewalk enjoying a snack and conversation with friends.

I've had plenty of bad behavior. Three of them jumped out of the boat in the middle of the ride and we got multiple intrusions. We immediately E-stop and go back there expecting maint. and there are three Brazilians walking around backstage. When confronted by a coordinator one of them promptly "faints" and they get off scott-free! I was not feeling too magical for the rest of that day...

at jungle when i was there we would fit as many brazilians as we could in a boat and ask if anyone spoke english, if no we say nothing, if so then we said as little as possible, Usually if we filled a boat we would apologize to the skipper cause well its gonna be 10 min of blank stares
