Eisner should have gone out like this.

That had class. I just can't see Eisner doing it that way. No, when I see something that's really bad (like having two different places on the buses where, if you listen closely, you can ALWAYS find Mickey), I call it "Eisner bad" or "Eisner show".

Sucks for a guy who did so much for Disney early on...

Eisner should have shot himself out of a cannon, that'd make people happy :D:

Was he really that bad in the end? (from a CM's prespective, what was he doing that was counter to running Disney the way Walt might have done it?)

I dislike Eisner and was glad to hear he was leaving Disney. He screwed up so many things it isn't funny. He cut funding to things he shouldn't have and he was behind the shutdown of some of the classic attractions that were closed.

He also messed up Disney Pictures. It was under Eisner (I believe) that hand-animation was done away with. A number of the movies that came out under him just weren't up to Disney standards IMO, a lot weren't even good enough for theaters and went straight to home video. It was under him when they started putting out all of these sequels to classic movies. Instead of coming up with new things they stole from the classics. I don't know how much of this can be blamed directly on Eisner but as it happened on his watch he bears at least part of the responsibility IMO.

I have seen others mention that, was it over a long period of time? I was wondering how much could have been poor business choices, versus him actually have a different "focus" on where he was taking the company. Most that talk about him messing the company up talk in general terms. Was it just a sense that he was not holding true to the ideals that were set.

And if he did mess up, and it was recognized, what has the current management team done to reverse that, or have they? (wow, sounds like I am writing essay questions for my students!) Sorry, just like the CM perspective and insight on that topic.
