I admit, I didn't see a major meltdown when we had dinner with you in September, but I have fond memories of meeting you and yours. Besides, how many times do I get to see a little girl your daughter's age stuffing her stretchy top with napkins so she looks like the rest of the ladies at the table! ;) I still laugh at that memory...!vixen101485 wrote:UMMMM you may change your thots when she decides to have a major meltdown. LOL It is interesting to look thru a child's point of view on things sometimes and you realize that you will probably be the one she decides is her new best friend. Fine by me, I need a vacation. lol

And the funny thing is that the kids generally behave themselves much better in the counter service locations. It may have something to do with being in familiar surroundings. Maybe if the signature restaurants would serve their food in cardboard boxes on a plastic tray it would help. :D:bonniehoy wrote:My family and I were eating at a family restaurant at WDW many years ago. There was a two year old crying his head off at another table and his parents were ignoring him. He was sobbing so hard, I said to my husband, "That kid is going to throw up!" Sure enough...
My point is, people who spend the big bucks to eat in a nice adult-type restaurant shouldn't have to listen to crying kids.
Most kids hate the fancy restaurants anyway.

I agree with Disney on this one. My 6 year old is well be haved in restraunts but if we took her there she would have to have something from McDonald's as we leave the place. The food that they serve at those restraunts is not kid friendly. If you want something kid friendly take them to Ohana.

As a mom, I think most of the issue is SPEED. I know for my little one, buffets/family style service is fine. Character meals? Fine. If we can get the food, he can start eating, and we can be done quickly, he is great!Randy B wrote:And the funny thing is that the kids generally behave themselves much better in the counter service locations. The sit down signature restaurants tend to move more slowly, so he just kind of loses interest between "What can I get for you?" and the actual entree arriving. We did take him to Le Cellier for an early lunch (I would never torture other diners there by trying dinner with him!) in Nov and that went great. We asked our waitress to just keep it coming, apps, entrees, desserts. Boom, boom, boom. He munched on the breadsticks when we sat down and he was really good through the meal. As DD4 and I were finishing dessert, he started to get a wee bit crazy, getting loud and looking around like he wanted to flee, so DH just left with him while we finished up and paid.
We chalked that up to luck and decided not to push it. :D: So May is all buffet/family style/character meals.

Thats smart, you should give lessons to other moms on how to dine with little ones!!StephM wrote:As a mom, I think most of the issue is SPEED. I can't imigine trying to take our grandkids to V&A or like dining. you are right, the wait between courses would have them spinning around the room. and they are pretty well behaved, for kids under 11!
