(That number is an estimate...I can't seem to recall the actual number--guess I should've paid more attention in that class!) They can redress the story any way they want, but it will fall into one of those 23 (or so) categories, no matter what they do to it. If you buy into that logic, any story would be familiar on some level...
Could be true..but THAT sounds like someones PHD thesis!!

(Especially if that someone is TEACHING the class!! hehehe)

Yeah, it probably was, however that was coming from a real Prof. rather than a TA, at least... But, ya know, it's not like it's a hard science, it's totally debatable. The best answer I heard to that was that Sartre's "The Stranger" doesn't fit into any of the story models. The Prof's answer? "The Stranger has no plot!" :p:

In other news, since it's not worthy of its own thread, what do you think of my new Avatar and Sig line? I like to change it up a little every so often and keep myself interested... :D:

Yo, it's one universal law but two sides to every story
Three strikes and you be in for life, manditory
Four MC's murdered in the last four years
I ain't tryin to be the fifth one, the millenium is here.
