Driving Lessons/Schools in O-town?

Post by Sarah Magdalene » Wed Dec 26, 2007 10:07 am

Confession, and I must do it now - I do not have a driver's license and I suck at driving. Yes yes, I KNOW I'm supposed to have reliable transportation to work as full timer, but ....

I mean, I have family who can and has been helping me through all this but I know I need to get behind the wheel on my own.

Anyway, now that this is out there can any of you current Orlando CM's can refer me to a good driving school/lessons in the area?

Thanks for any help you guys can give!

*hangs head in shame*

I can't help with the driving school but if you want to ride a motorcycle, the MSSF course that is presented all over FL (the Harley dealers do it also) is excellent.

In looking for a driving school, find one that will supply a vehicle for the test (may be an extra charge)

After dusting off the cobwebs I seem to remember one driving school in the area. It was the Wong School Of Driving. Their motto was, "Learn To Drive The Wong Way."

They may not still be in business.

Okay, maybe I can make things a little more clear.

I DO know how to drive, I have a learner's license and everything. However, I do suck a bit while on the road. So, I'm not a complete beginner. I just need some good guidance and a very patient driving teacher.

Oh, I do have a vehicle available to use if one is needed.

Do you have any friends you work with who might be able to help you out? That might be a *lot* cheaper than a school. That's what I did: I paid a buddy of mine $50 for two lessons and a ride to the DMV to take the test (they don't like it if they see you driving up without a license!)

In Lake County you can get private or semi private "driving time" through the board of education. You are required to have the restricted/learner license and they will provide you with a certified drivers ed teacher who does the behind the wheel instruction. Try what the county you live in and see what programs are available. They do it through the continueing education program here I think.
