Another thing that pisses me off is when somebody rents a wheelchair for their small children because a wheelchair can go into the attractions and a stroller cannot. Also I have seen a bunch of people that are very obese rent ECVs so they don't have to walk in the park. But ECVs are such a cash cow for the company I do not see any restrictions on them any time soon.
Elvis didn't do no drugs!
i dunno, my philosophy is if the guest is smart enough to find a way to "beat" the system then by all means i let them do it. ut only if they impress me, which in my year and two months of employment has proven to be once.Another thing that pisses me off is when somebody rents a wheelchair for their small children because a wheelchair can go into the attractions and a stroller cannot..
I rent ECVs to these people on a regular basis. My theory is that it's because the government tells these people that being "morbidly obese" is a permanent disability that they think they're entitled to such privileges. And these 400+ pound people wonder why their ECV battery runs out after a couple hours (officially the weight limit for ECVs is 350). I had one this weekend who went through three and the two that died on her were completely shot (as in we had to push them back).coldfire409 wrote:Also I have seen a bunch of people that are very obese rent ECVs so they don't have to walk in the park. It's a two-way street. I agree that people should be more careful when driving them and actually LISTEN to us when we instruct them how to use it (this includes no children on the ECV!!BabyAngel024 wrote:People need to learn how to drive those things, I had one guy almost hit me because he couldnt stop it and didnt know how to turn or wasnt looking where he was going. Oh that irritates me. :x

^coming from MY point of view, the guy on the scooter, it's also amazing when I am completely stopped, and someone will walk into MY SCOOTER, and then give me the "Look". and make comments like I should watch where I am going.
People usually clear out of my way, though. I must look like a mad man or something, because people will pull their kids out of the way when they see me coming, like I am going to hit them. Come on, people. I can manuver this thing better than most of them can walk. Ive been confined to it for almost 3 years now, and I know how it handles better than most people know their cars react.
Since this thread is about the GAC, I am a little worried. As you may know by reading my signature, my family and I are getting to move back to California. I am going to be able to afford to buy an AP, but the new rules of the GAC scare me a little bit. Frankly, I dont want a "well trained" CM telling me to leave my "ECV" way back at the exit of Peter Pan or Roger Rabbit, and then having to explain that my "ECV" is not just a convenience, it is my wheelchair. And for the record, I will gladly wait as long as everyone else has to wait, and if they build the ques so that I can get all the way through them without hitting a turnstile at the end, I am so there. I like that about DCA. For me, it is embarrasing to get ahead of others in line just because I cant stand up for more than a few feet now.
Anyway, I am sorry for all you CM's having to deal with the cheaters and the outright pigs that I know we disabled people can be.

Hey Wheelieman. Thanks for being considerate, not too many people are nowadays. But most of us talk about guests who rent the ECV simply because they are too lazy. When we see guests that come in with their own ECV it is a different story.
I hope I get to come into contact with you one of these days. I am the first one to jump at the chance to carry a chat with a friendly guest who doesn't mind waiting in lines.
Unfortunately Michael Eisner shook his Eight Ball of Fortune and it said his pockets were not filled enough with the Benjamins and Churros, so they will not be making any drastic changes to queues. You can, however, voice your opinion about the queues. But as long as there is a way for you to be able to enter the attraction there does not have to be any changes. Autopia is a ride that is ADA accessible. As for the routes....Well due to limited space, you will have to stow away your ECV in the back to get into Peter Pan.

I survived working at Disneyland... My job there will be missed...

Thanks Bumblebee!
You will definetly get to know me. I stick out like a happy sore thumb. I will be on my red and black scooter, usually with my two daughters, ages 6 and 9. If ANY of you see me starting in June, please stop me and say "HI!", cause I would love to meet you too.
We like the shows and entertainment as much as or more than the rides. My kids love to go to Camp Snoopy here in Minnesota, but they would rather watch the character driven shows than ride the roller coasters. I like them too, and I used to be one of those geeks [before the scooter, before 1993 when we moved to Minnesota] that would wait to get the front seat at Circus Fantasy or Dick Tracy. Man.....I loved Dick Tracy!

AS a matterhorn lead, I frquently spent time helping out at the SAP gates. One a guest in an suv sized wheelchair ran over my foot and then got it caught underneath the gate. No one in his eight person party even turned around to see why I was yelping in pain. A few hours later, my thouroughly swollen foot said a fine thank you to the jerk heads. :?
Hang on to your Hat, 'cause I'm not going to get it when it blows off your head.
