Anyone else think that the IEEE working on 40G ethernet is a waste of time and they just need to focus on 100G?

In this thread, you mention so many things I hope to need to know again soon... But for now, most of it's Latin to me. I know what IEEE is... Well, at least 1394...

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

There's somebody in a lab somewhere that's trying to figure it out. IEEE can't spec something that doesn't exist. Storage Area Networks are for local data transfer. If you want to extend SAN, NAS, LAN or iSCSI over a WAN then 40 Gb and 100 Gb become an item of interest.

We leave that to the tech weenies, most of the stuff on the SAN is evidence files and cases, and cannot be accessed cept by authorized peepul. Thats why most are off line. but we do have fiber to specific pc's at our stations.
