Silver linings...

NOT getting a job with Disney turned out to be good news for a friend of mine named David Townsley, who sings with me in the Vocal Majority chorus and is producing our Christmas shows this weekend. Here's an excerpt from a newspaper article:
David met his future wife, Hawana, while producing shows at the Eisemann Center where she works as the events coordinator. She worked as the house coordinator while David stage managed for the chorus. The two spent a lot of time working together and eventually fell in love.

He said the decision to marry his long-time girlfriend came on the heels of a major disappointment. Townsley was being considered for a job producing Disney shows at one of the entertainment giant’s major theme parks. He recently learned he did not get the job.

Later, he and his girlfriend, Hawana, were at the Eisemann Center for the facility’s 5th year anniversary celebration. Townsley was a little sad as he and Hawana talked that night. Hawana, he realized, was not.

“She said, ‘The boys and I are kind of glad you didn’t get that job...’” he remembered her saying. She told him she and her two sons, Ian and Zach, would miss him if he took the job and moved to Florida.

Townsley said he realized what he and Hawana and the boys had was very good, perhaps even better than a job with Disney.
...

“Since Hawana works for the Eisemann Center and we are performing at the Eisemann, our ceremony will be on the stage after Saturday’s matinee on Dec. 15. The chorus will be there to sing for us and one of the four ministers in the chorus will marry us. The chorus, stage crew and our friends and family will be at the wedding,” Townsley said. “Since I didn’t get the job with Disney and it ended happily anyway, they’re going to sing “When You Wish upon a Star.”
So yes, I will be singing at his wedding onstage this Saturday, right after our matinee. Ain't love grand? :D:

Sometimes, dream don't come true, but it often turns out to be a good thing.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

One man's nightmare is another man's dream. I went to work for a company that friends said was in a dead end, no sizzle tech sector. Two years later I exercised stock options and bought a home in Hawaii. It really was a dream.
