HOORAY! for GC/PAC!!! It is a very thankless job that involves telling everyone they cant go this way or that way, or in the case of parades that they are stuck until the 30 minute spectro passes. or the people spending $500 on dinner in the castle being told they need to fight parade traffic to get to their reservations with the fear DRC puts in them of the cancellation and no-show fees. Guest control is hectic and stressful for everyone... the parks were not designed to handle this many people especially with the entitlement attitudes they have today. I always thank all my PAC cast members for Wishes and try to deal with (or start a preemptive strike against) as many guest situations as possible.

a bit OT (not that it matters on this board LOL): cindy's royal table ideally needs to not have reservations that start AT or DURING fireworks. That is stupid stupid disney looking for every last dime and pissing off everyone. Or have the reservations people remind guests to get to their reservations early and plan ahead if it is around fireworks time.

I'm glad I had nothing to do with Candlelight, or anything of the sort anymore. Maybe if Americans understood the concept of roundabouts the whole circular flow thing wouldn't piss off so many SG's...

I can't stand the GC people who don't understand that if you're standing way downstream of an intersection, you can't do anything to actually fix it. If you're in a stupid spot, waving a flashlight, yelling at the top of your lungs or sprouting an giant biomechanical flaming megaphone at the end of an arm isn't going to help as much as moving forward 10 feet. In my GC area where restricting access is far more important than massive directional flow, this is a huge problem sometimes and I don't get why a lot of new CM's don't grasp this concept.

Now that my daughter and I did the Candlelight this year, we never have to do it again. My hat is off to GC for that event. BUT WHERE WERE THEY WHEN I NEEDED THEM?!?!

I attended the Candlelight as a guest, and I came in my ECV to the park like I always do. We got front row seats in the handicapped section. Before entering the handicapped section I asked the GC CM, "Will my daughter be able to stand next to me?" The CM said, "Yes, standing room next to you. There will be no where to sit." Okay, we say. We get situated, with my daughter standing next to me. When the program started some very rude and SG behind us started yelling at my daughter to sit down because their small daughter's view was blocked. They were so rude that we did not offer to let the little one stand in front of us. I told them that the CM said my daughter could STAND next to me during the performance, then we turned around to enjoy the program. This is when SG started screaming and throwing things at my daughter. This is when my daughter sat down on the ground, staring at the rude, SG family for the whole performance.
There was not a CM in sight for me to get up and tell. Besides, I was in my ECV, which means that it's hard for me to get around!!!
During the performance the little girl started complaining that she was cold and bored!!!

After the performance I turned around. The SG mom was long gone (chicken!). But the Dad was still there with the son in wheelchair. I turned around to him and told him, "Well, I didn't want to ruin the program for his family, but is it my turn now to throw things and scream at your little girl and make her cry for the next 45 minutes? You owe my daughter an apology." SG: "She wouldn't sit down!" Me: "CM said standing room next to me. You didn't have to throw things at my daughter." SG: "We didn't, but she was rude." ETC!!!
A few words back and forth and the SG left saying sarcastically, "Merry Christmas, merry christmas.!!"

O.K., we never have to do this again!!!!. My daughter left saying to me,"Mom, a choir is meant to be heard. I could hear everything."

During these events a few more CM within the crowd to control SG situation like this. IMHO

The CMs at the intersection to the south of me (which was only opened intermittently) were doing little more than waving their flashlights around, doing little to nothing to enforce traffic directionality. :mad: I don't know what the ones at the intersection to the north of me were doing, since I wasn't allowed to venture that far from my store. I was largely directing people who tried to go the wrong way as they exited the store, and people approaching the store from the wrong direction. I did hear a lot of SGs tell me the GC CMs upstream of me let them go the wrong way to get to the store I was patrolling in front of. I never saw any of them come back out and go the right way after "shopping", so they probably just continued to force their way through the mob after forcing their way through CMs that were supposed to prevent people from exiting through the store's south entrance.

And yelling and screaming and throwing things at a little girl is what Christmas is all about, right. Throwing things at a little girl???? That is unreal!!!! What is WRONG with people anymore? That makes me very sad... :( What assholes. :mad: It is too bad there was not a CM around, but I will bet they had their hands full of other just as stupid, if not worse situations in a crowd like that, what with trying to keep everyone under control. I am sorry that the SG family ruined it for you. We have a CM friend that sings in the choir at DL and even he told us to avoid the Candlelight Ceremony nights. Even though he would love to have us hear him sing, he knows we would have a LOT of trouble in those crowds being disabled (we are not in chairs, but we have standing and walking problems and my husband can have balance issues.) I understand it is a nightmare for guest control and it brings out the cruel and mean in the already stupid guests. I hope Santa brings them coal for Christmas or something happens in their life to show them the true meaning of the holiday and to stop being such pissants!!!

In response to the comment about Americans and roundabouts, I don't think its so much they dont KNOW what it is, they are just to lazy to walk all the way around. To quote a SG I had not too long ago: What's the shortest distance between two points? A line- Not at Disney!.
