Does Disney own ALL of this?
A couple stories from yesterday...
I had a very pissed off guest come up to me and ask me for a spoon. I politely told him we didn't have any spoons, just forks and knives. Then he goes off on me asking how he's supposed to eat his frozen lemonade cup thingy with a fork... So I tell him he can go to Main St. and Gibson Icecream will have spoons... he says that's where he bought it from and they didn't have spoons... I asked if he was sure he bought it from GIBSON and not from a cart, and told him if he went back and checked they prolly had spoons again over there. No, he just wants a refund. I tell him I'm sorry, but we can only refund items sold at our location. He gets more pissed off and wants to talk to my supervisor. Well, no manager was there, the lead was on break and had put me in charge, so technically I was my supervisor at the moment. So I walked offstage for a minute, came back, and said hi, told him I was the supervisor, and asked how I could help. He just walked off.
Then another guest came up to me, and asked if all the lands were owned by the same company. Umm.... ya.... ok then. She seemed shocked to hear that yes, Disney owned ALL of Disneyland. It never really occured to me how difficult of a concept that is for someone to grasp.
Oh well... it was still a great day. Got the lead to give me an extra break and free food, and got to relieve my stress by picking on the new hires and locking them in the refer for a bit

*gasp* I thought I was the only one who ever got these guests! I get guests ALL the time asking if Disneyland owns all the lands and stores, etc. I have to explain it all in great detail to them! And I often get people going, "How much is this?" and I'll answer them and then they mutter to their group, "The other store had it cheaper" and I HAVE to tell them that Disney owns all the shops, except for the select few like in New Orleans, and that the prices are the same everywhere. I have had people ARGUE with me that they KNOW it's cheaper in another store because they were just there. Even when I tell them I have worked in that store and I know it's the same price. People just don't want to look stupid, but really...it's like, "*I* work here, not the guest!" Why does the guest think they know more about the park than the cast member??? And why do they always feel like we're trying to "trick" or lie to them??
Yep, we get that all the time, especially at the Guides and Newsstand. They insist it's cheaper either at the Emporium or at DCA. One guest even had the nerve to tell me at Guide II that something was cheaper at Guide I.flippin_mermaid wrote:And I often get people going, "How much is this?" and I'll answer them and then they mutter to their group, "The other store had it cheaper" and I HAVE to tell them that Disney owns all the shops, except for the select few like in New Orleans, and that the prices are the same everywhere. I really laugh when they insist that DL and DCA's stroller rental policies are different. They say things like DL has double strollers or DCA's ECVs are faster or DL let the strollers out of the park but DCA doesn't. Boy do they look stupid when I tell them I worked at both stroller shops that day and tell them they're wrong.

Ya, those guests and then the ones who ask "what's you commission on this?" or "so you get to keep all that money?" riiiiight.Polar33 wrote:You get that a lot in ODV too. "But the guy at the other stand said it was only this much". I'd always tell them that "the guy at the other stand was mistaken, this is indead the price throuought the park. But if you'd like to buy it from the other place go right ahead...they'll just have to deal with the cash shortage later today."
You also get a lot of people asking if you personally own the cart that you are working. Hah...don't I wish.
If only we could........that'd be some incentive to make plan and ADS instead of what our normal incentives are.DisneyPrincess wrote:Ya, those guests and then the ones who ask "what's you commission on this?" or "so you get to keep all that money?" riiiiight.

When I had first started I had calculated the commision off my old base, and it was some nice cuts. I left a job where the least I ever made was $10, and that was with only one customer my whole day, to come work at Disney....SRT_GB wrote:If only we could........that'd be some incentive to make plan and ADS instead of what our normal incentives are.DisneyPrincess wrote:Ya, those guests and then the ones who ask "what's you commission on this?" or "so you get to keep all that money?" riiiiight.
