Official SGT ADD thread

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

The time of our "surprise" emergency evacuation drill today at work has been leaked to a few folks. Do you think they'll be aware that I know if I show up outside at our muster point wearing a heavier jacket than my uniform one and carrying a Starbucks cup?

Should have brought in my thermos then I could have filled it with hot chocolate and called it an emergency supply item. :p:

Poor, poor baby...Ralphie does all the dishes in the house. He LIKES to do them. Says he does them, because he can. He NEVER uses our dishwasher, which is not good because you have too run it once a week at the very least to keep the moisture in certain parts of the pipes. We had a very strong odor of sewer coming up our kitchen sink drain once and called a plumber. He said what happens is if you do not run the dishwasher once a week at least there is some back up deal going on, and you get the stench. I am not exactly sure of what the whole plumbing deal is, but, because Ralphie washes everything by hand and never runs the washer , the stench is back and we ARE showing the house. You can imagine some sharp dressed man and his wife looking at the kitchen and smelling...smelling...POOP!!!!!! We have to call the plumber again to make the odor go away. Ralph will NOT use the dishwasher. I have to remind him to turn it on and run a cycle. Maybe one of the more mechanically inclined (Randy?) can explain why we get a sewer smell in our kitchen sink drain when we don't run the washer. It reeks!GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:Not allowed. Sewer gas will come out of drains if not blocked by water in a P Trap. That's the pipe under the sink that has a dip in it before it goes into the wall. The water in the toilet does the same thing.susislicker wrote:We had a very strong odor of sewer coming up our kitchen sink drain once and called a plumber. Not knowing how your dishwasher drain hose is connected I gonna take a SWAG on the root mean cause of the odor. The drain hose should be connected to a inlet on the side of the garbage disposal. That means it'll be on the upstream side of the P Trap. If it's on the down stream side side of the P Trap and the dishwasher isn't used, the water in the hose will evaporate and allow gas to come out of the dishwasher vent on the back of the sink. A simple hose reroute job may be in order.
If the odor is coming out of the sink drain, all you need to do is run the faucet for a couple of seconds to fill the P Trap.
Hope that helps.

Anyway, the drill is over and done, except for them rehashing stuff. One of the local TV stations sent a remote van out because they thought something was up. Guy looked disappointed when he showed up as we were going back inside.
Oh look a....
