Reminds me of a story a campus trolley (essentially modified buses) driver told me one time. The main road through campus is four lanes (two each way) but there is a place where the right lane becomes right turn only. The trolley goes by here so has to be in the left lane naturally. One time these two guys ran from the corner and banged on the side of the moving trolley trying to get it to stop in the middle of the left lane just past the biggest intersection on campus. The driver kept going until he was where he could stop safely at the right curb. The idiots were pissed he didn't stop at the corner. I don't remember if his telling them why appeased them or not.

The thing is, if the SG was upset that the full bus left without them , they would also be upset if the driver let them on and they were crammed in. Either way they are going to be upset if they don't have an entire bus to themselves. (shrug)

1. Is the ride closed?
2. How long is it close for?
and occasionally
3. What's wrong with the ride?

It's especially funny when people ask "is it closed", when one train is stuck on the lift, and one in the approach with people on it.
Of course the Disney Answer is always "Technical Difficulties" but I would love to get technical on a guest and be like:
"I'm glad you asked! A guest dropped a baby harness into the flume, when I advanced a boat the harness got caught on the load sensor and tore it off. This led to an Auto E-stop. I powered the ride down and back up but I kept getting E-stops. I called maintenance and they powered the ride up in maint. mode and manually advanced the boats so we could cycle out. After the ride was clear we dumped the queue, drained the flume and now they are replacing the load sensor."
Then the guest would be like: "Maybe Technical Difficulties was better..."

It's funny, they don't want the REAl answer, but they want hear an answer they want. They might understand it.

It's even better if you can use technical terms and descriptions. So something like this: (note some of this stuff is made up numbers, procedures and references. If a real one is available, substitute, and if no such manual/part number/procedure exists, make it sound right)

A Guest dropped a harness strap into the water that became entangled on a bb356 and also entangled the next vehicle, causing the bb356 to be torn free of it mounting causing an automatic 101. Repeted restart procedures as per manual LP01 did not resolve the conflict and so the appropriate repair and recovery agency was called. They did a signal 87 start to allow the guests currently on hold in the ride to be cycled to unload. And this allowed a complete shut down and drawdown to be performed. So the electricians are currently in the process of clearing fluid from the housings and replacing the bb356 as well as checking all the sensors for damage that may have occured before the harness material tangled strong enough to make a fatal failure of the one circuit. But as soon as the recheck of the entire circuit is completed and the fluid levels can be brought to the design standards, we will run a test run in accordance with SOP. At that time we will return to operation for you. But due to unknown variables of repair and quality testing times I can not give you a hard time for return to operation. Please check back later when we may have a slightly more precise estimate available.

Nothing stumps someone more than when the description sounds logical but since they can't decipher the description they can't argue with it. If the whole thing is said in a tone of voice that says "I'm very happy to answer your question as fully as I can in hopes that it will make your day easier".

Of course if you get one of us who would just turn around and say "and now in english", a simple "it's broke and we're fixing it as fast as we can" (with a big smile).

Of course you might run into me and then the question would be more like: Any estimate of when I should check back in hopes of more information?

Then we just say just check back every hour, or so.

I love it when you start that and their eyes kinda start drifting in opposite directions.
