I'm surprised this is shocking to people...DoomBuggies.com actually has had this information (especially HM) for many many years.

I guess it's not all that surprising, just disturbing.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

IF WDW andd DLR made it more public that if you dump ashes, all that is going to happen is that the area is shut down, dust is vaccumed and disposed of, and not left on the site of the scattering!

That way MAYBE people would think about it and change there mind!....

Oh what......, sorry......, FORGET for a minute there that I am on the SGT board. OF COURSE they will continue to do it, even though they know the ashes will end up in the trash!

I've never claimed to be the Sharpest Hunk of Cheese

But..........

Im kind of confused as to why this is a big deal. Granted you should never litter in a ride no matter whether its a candy wrapper or Grandma. But if someone was walking around sprinkling a little here and a little there, what could be the big deal?

Do they actually make a special call for this? The article reads like this is a big problem. After being cooked that long chances are that what ever is being sprinkled is pretty sterile.

Personally I feel that if I'm gonna become ashes, I would rather my family go up to any enemies I have and throw a fistful of me in their face. Now that's Vengeance. HaHa, you have GRITS on your face.

I wouldn't care if they had it ran through a UV light. When I am at an amuzement park with my family, kids, and grandkids, I Don't want someone sprinkling "Grandpa joe" where I am going to walk, or for that matter, where the wind can blow it into my face. Its not dirt, its Human Remains! show a little respect for everyone else.

Even puting aside the legal issues about disposal of human remains, I wouldn't like it if someone were spreading fireplace ashes in an attraction. First if it is getting into water it is a particulate that can clog filters and machinery that will cause more frequent "down time" to repair/replace. If it is getting into the air it can cause respiratory problems with many people. And any ash that is dumped (even just a "handful") will tend to waft into the air meaning that everyone around the action will likely be dusted with the "fly ash". Even puting aside the sensibilities of the so affected due to the source of the ash, such an action is inconciderate. IMHO

Now having said that, I will admit I have heard of one person who had a small measure of his ashes interred in World Showcase lagoon durring an Illuminations cruise and thought it was a touching tribute to someone who had been a big fan of such cruises. But in attractions and where there is the slightest chance of such remains coming in contact with other humans should be avoided. IMHO

Randy

Is this what they are talking about? Remains actually on walkways? That seems a little disrespectful to the deceased.

I agree, I would want anything blowing in my face, no matter who or what it is.

I guess this is why I am confused. Are folks actually pitching family members around like beads at Mari Gras?

We took some of my grandfathers ashes to The Rockies to throw. I understand that a little goes a long way.

When I read the article, this is what I thought he was implying. I would have no problem with this.

That is the source of the DL POTC ash dumping escapade. It was reported in a book back in 2002 that someone dumped ashes in HM.
