Just returned for a great trip except for the rude SG
Just returned for a great trip except for the rude SG
I just returned from a wonderful trip to WDW. My husband and I were there for our honeymoon( we both work for a Renaissance Faire so we love going to Disney because we can empathize with the CMs we do the same guest interaction and so appreciate the hard work you guys do.) As it was our 3 trip together in as many years we decided that we were going to take it slow and just enjoy ourselves. If we did something alright if not no big deal for example we missed that bus, ride, whatever we will get the next one. We could not get over all the little things that CMs did for us. Nothing big but cute things like the CM on the TTA put a just married signed on our car. We stayed at the POFQ again and the CM managed to get us the same room we had 2 years ago for our first trip and we had an awesome housekeeper named Rosa for the last 2 years who just made our stay fantastic.
What did upset me however was a very rude SG over at MGM (we saw a bunched but this one really upset me). We were there on Tuesday Nov 6th in the early afternoon so we decided to ride the great movie ride. The line was quite reasonable but cue the SGs who had to complain the whole time. Then they ended up in the same car as us behind us. It Mom, Dad and 3 wonderful teens actually I think one was a pre-teen. Here where the problem started our host was a nice CM member I think he name was Everret I couldn’t see his name tag. He had a very slight lisp when he talked and most likely it is not noticeable normally but the microphone he had made it sound worse.
Now he spoke quite clearly and I and my other half enjoyed his enthusiasm. The pre-teen behind us spent the whole ride making snarky comments about our host. When we got the part where the host switches out we got the gangsta host the girl still would not stop with the comment like how stupid the ride was etc … At this point much to my new husband’s dismay I turned and shot her a glare. She stopped for a little bit. Unfortunately, when it got to the part where the hosts switch back this idiot girl actually had the nerve to BOO the host and stated she wanted the other guy back because “He is not a dork and at least he knows how to talk right.” This was not under her breath but loud and clear. I whipped around stared at her and comment on how could someone so young be so rude and cynical. She turned beat red but still did not completely stop with her comments.
After the ride we saw the host leave the area and by chance saw him go into Star Tours and through a back door as we headed for that ride. I hope that SG didn’t ruin his day. I don’t know if that was a planned break or if he needed to get off stage after her comments. I wanted to tell that he did a great job and that some of us really enjoyed his performance but he walked too fast for us to catch up with him. I hate people who tried to wreck something just cause that don’t have any imagination left. I see too much of that working the faire with adults trying to make me break character because they could not get into the spirits of things.
Sorry this went on so long I just wanted to say that some of us really appreciate all the stuff CMs do and it hurts when I see a SG wreck a good performance.

I definitely would have said something to the *child* as well. How absolutely rude and the parents did nothing??? Poor CM :( I guess you can tell where she learned it. Oh, sometimes I just want to crawl in a hole and pretend the rest of the world does not exist. As Charles Schultz so succintly put it, "I love humanity, it's people I can't stand."

p.s. I hope you had a fabulous time nonetheless. :D:

I doubt I should tell this one......
I was working the tram system at a platform, assisting guests exiting the tram , doing the safety check, then signaling the tram to continue. It was late in the evening and cold with a strong wind. The guests were mostly in a good mood, pleasant and friendly. The transportation staff is one of the nicest groups of people I know.
A tram arrived and the announcer was a girl with a slight speech difficulty. A teen female passenger was loudly mocking the announcer's speech from her seat in the middle row of the tram for all to hear.
I assisted the guests and gave the driver a "wait" signal. I went over to the row with the rude girl and her friends and had the following conversation (not too quietly):.
Me: Did you all have a great day today?
She: Yes (excitedly) Yes!!!!
Me: Was the park beautiful?
She: Yes (excitedly) Yes!!!!
Me: Then why do you find it necessary to act so ugly toward someone right now?
She: Stunned silence, her friends laugh at her, some other guests verbally support what I said.
I stepped back and gave the driver an enthusiastic "Proceed" signal and thats the last I saw of them.
I later told this story to the director of the department (not the lead, location supervisor, supervisor or manager) and his reply was "You should have slapped the b---- too".

I also have a slight lisp, you can really hear it when I am tired. I had so many speech lessons when I was young, did no good. Now I kinda chuckle about it. Imagine having a name like susi slicker and NOT being able to pronounce your S'es very well... ;)

Thank you, Mikey, for speaking up. So many SGs badmouth other people to make themselves feel more important, but they don't realize how STOOPID they make themselves look, and sometimes it needs to be pointed out.
We need more people like you.

Re: Just returned for a great trip except for the rude SG
About twice a month, I do my schtick and have some kid that pipes up after my first laugh telling me how I am not scary or funny. Sometimes, they will break the anonymity and do it as they are leaving the bus. I, smiling, thank them for their opinion, and tell them I will take their opinion under the same advisement which I take the opinions of those who enjoyed the show I try to give. Then, I take a look at their parents who are often smiling at what their kids have said and tell them to please enjoy the rest of their bus rides with the automated system. I'll apologize that they didn't enjoy my show, and at least they won't have to put up with me again. All with a smile. They often don't know how to respond to that.
I would love to know what the parents think of what their kids said after a week on the buses.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Ha! Way to go, BW. It's amazing what you can tell people, with a smile on your face, when you'd really rather be sticking your tongue out at them. :p:Big Wallaby wrote:About twice a month, I do my schtick and have some kid that pipes up after my first laugh telling me how I am not scary or funny. They get so confused they don't know what to think - it takes awhile to process that kind of subtle comment.

That's horrible. How could someone be so cruel to another person?

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!
