Peaceful Meadows is great. My family and I used to frequent the one in Whitman, and we sometimes still do. Their M&M ice cream is wonderful. The ice cream is so fresh, you can smell the cows! (literally; there's a cow pasture and barn right next to the stand)Cranbiz wrote:When we used to go out for ice cream, we usually went to Peaceful Meadows. YUM!!!!

Re: Stupid Dining Tricks?
It's more of a mud pie. :D:
I did not even think for a moment that Joe's Crab Shack was going to be quality seafood.(it was a cheap night out with the boy's discount) I was very pleasantly surprised with the calimari. It was tender and tasty with very little breading.
I have been to several seafood places here and also to Cape May Cafe. Sorry, the seafood sucks here. Maybe a small mom and pop place right on the coast will change my attitude but anywhere inland, not going to happen.

Several, but they change as the chefs move around. Right now my favorite is Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The regular menu in the main dining room is worth raving about, but the monthly eight-course wine dinners in the private dining room are nearly indescribable!susislicker wrote:How bout you, Zazu, got any favorite restaurants? :)

That's where the only Red Robin is that I know of in MA.
Friendly's is so so. When we used to go out for ice cream, we usually went to Peaceful Meadows. YUM!!!!
Actually, I live in Worcester. The Red Robin is just over the town line in Millbury. Funny, the Red Robin website must have a glitch. When I did a search, it didn't show me one in Plymouth (hence my assumption that the one near me was the only one in Mass), though it DID show me one in CT south of Springfield, and one even farther into CT...
As for seafood, I do admit that growing up in New England you really do get spoiled by the great seafood. (And while I admit that it's FAR from being *good* seafood, there's a certain "something" about being able to order a McLobster at McDonald's certain times of the year...)
Some of the best fried seafood away from the coast is down the road in Westboro, at a little family-owned place called Harry's. It's great because it's open late, prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. Their full-belly plate is one of their speciaties. There's also a really nice higher-end restaurant here in Worcester called the Sole Proprietor.
And while it's in the heart of tourist-trap Quincy Market, best chowder I've ever had was at the Black Horse Tavern, in the basement of Durgin Park. I assume it's the same chowder that they serve upstairs, but its basement location shields the Tavern from much of the tourist traffic. It was the first chowder I ever had that I dind't have to add *anything* to other than the crackers. No salt, no pepper, nothing.

Hmmm.... While I'll be arriving down there on the 6th (the first Thursday of December), I'm trying to keep this a very low-budget trip.Zazu wrote:Several, but they change as the chefs move around. *But*...I might just take you up on that in June, when I'll also be in town for the first Thursday.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

And that is not fair discriminating against January, the very best people in the world were born in January :D: I was born on the same day as Franklin Delano Roosevelt! There WERE some jags born that month as well, Dick Cheney born on the same day as I!!!!!

But we will be there in May ( I am hoping for crossover of the last two weeks of May and the first two weeks of May, Flower and Garden Time at EPCOT! :butterfly :clap :) ! And we WILL look you up, course we are staying at the giant toaster, (crosses fingers that all goes well with resses) and we will see you there.

Re: Stupid Dining Tricks?
I'm certainly not one to disagree with that point, but to serve on the first Thursday in January requires planning and menu testing the last week of December -- right in the middle of the holiday rush. Don't take it personally.susislicker wrote:And that is not fair discriminating against January, the very best people in the world were born in JanuaryZazu wrote:Right now my favorite is Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
