The guy who developed X-Plane has one, and I believe he's lost two, both while on the ground and he wasn't in them. But yes, very cool aircraft.

The guy who took me for spin training had (at the last time I talked to him) 30,000 hours flight time. For fun, he and Sean Tucker go up and try to scare each other, quite unsuccessfully and burning a lot of fuel. Basically, when this guy gets off work, he goes home and hops in his beautiful Stearman or lovely C-180. Almost bought an Extra 300. Oh, and his price for flight training? Avgas money (and not even enough to cover the expenses), pizza and beer. Lil' Wallaby and I are trying to get back in contact with him to get her trained fixed, IFR, Commercial, Rotorcraft, CFIR, and maybe even ultralight. I will be happy with fixed wing and some ultralight.

Now, I have a story that makes pilots want to kill my father... he's had an invitation for the last three years, any time he likes, to take a ride in a Staggerwing.

I forgot to mention the most beautiful plane in the air: The Lancair IV-P is made in Bend, OR. Well, it's a kit, but the parts are made there.

We have always enjoyed our bus rides, I can remember the fun trivia games, and just chatting.

We had our family along this past may, and were returning from dinner at AKL with our elderly parents. Dad wanted to return to the resort,(He uses a ECV) and we were heading to the studios. We were trying to explain to the parents how to change buses to get back to POFQ, when our driver told them to sit still that this was his last run and he would get them back to their resort.
How nice was that?
He went the extra mile to take care of our parents.. Thats the kind of thing that keeps the magic alive for us "Guests" The little things..

I think more drivers are coming out of the woodwork that like talking to their guests and miss it.

When they finally put the MiMs system fully into place <snicker>, I hope there turns out to be a way that, when a driver has a guest in an ECV going to a certain resort, he can request it for a next run. Maybe...

Did you happen to get that driver's name? I'm always happy to pass good stories of good drivers along to management. Not sure what they do about it, but I like passing that info.

Sorry but I didn't get his name :( But I will always remember how nice he was, and how thrilled my parents were to get the special treatment.. Dad is 83 and still loves WDW just like a kid..
I also use a ECV due to disability and always appreciate the extra care received..
