Do you hear what I hear?

Post by Purpura » Sun Dec 03, 2006 1:49 pm

Dec 3 (and 4) - The Candle light ceremony....
Main Street People!

I was at Blue Ribbon Bakery working on the 3rd, and the only parts of the choirs singing I heard, were some faint bits of music- but the loudest was the phrase "King Of Kings!" from the Hallelujah Chorus....

I wished I was on break so I could have heard more :)

Oh, I swore I wouldn't miss Disney! *sigh*

I was a CP in the '03 Fall Advantage Program and the best part of my program was when I got to perform with the other CM's in the Candlelight Processional. I loved (still love, actually) that music. I still have my copy of the sound track and I pull it out every year around this time and just remember. Good luck to all of you working this season. For some reason cooler temperatures tend to bring even more SG's out of the woodwork.

They only did it Saturday and Sunday... I heard the faint bits and the loud King Of Kings bits four times, twice each night. Then I got to go on break and it was over each time. Meh. When I was walking to go change/get off property, they were taking the stuff down already.

Purpura,
Just reading your post gave me goose bumps! I think that Disney should put a performance on DVD and sell it up till about October, that would keep interest in it all year round. I know that there is the entire concert several times on Google Video. But it is the WDW version, and no offense to you awesome people at WDW, but seeing that huge choir filling all of the bleachers they set up on the park side of the MS train station, in scope and size the WDW Epcot version that I have seen isnt the HUGE spectacular that is The Candelight Procession Down Main Street USA. When I had my annual pass back in the days before Tammy, my wife, I never missed a show. Of course I havent seen it since 1991, so, it might have had a few changes.

I have not been to the Candlelight Processional, but we have a CM friend who performs in it and he gave us a picture of them perfornming. Oh, how I wish we could do 2 Holiday time trips, one early to see the Processional and the other to spend Christmas there. We always choose the latter, because Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at DL is just well....Magical and that way the in-laws don't get to fight over who *gets us* for the holidays! :D: We share it with our real family, the CMs we love so much! And in our favorite place on Earth, Disneyland! :xwin: :tree: :snowman: Disneyland at Christmas, nothing beats it, it is equal to WDW at Christmas, to be fair! :)

Never been to either one, but I'll be at the Epcot CP on its last night, December 30. I can't wait.

I love Christmas time in general, so this year has been great for me. The VM recorded a Christmas CD this year -- our fifth, I believe -- so between that and my church choir debuting a Christmas musical for a church conference in June, I've been doing Christmas music since February!

I want to see the VM perform. I need to order that CD, and then wait for your return to Denver, or Orlando, where ever we might be.....*You must sing real good to be in that group* ;)
I know you have to be marvelous to even be considered, so I imagine you have a beautiful voice! Now me, ever hear fingernails on chalkboard? Not quite that bad, :hysteria: I sang in choirs when I was young, then started smoking  and thay was that. I quit the cigs 12 yrs ago so my voice is better now. I would love to sing in a choir again. I love singing. I always imagined myself as Julie Andrews in Sound of Music. I am a soprano! No, not that family....

Aw, thanks! Susi!! You're making me blush :o: :o: :o: !

Honestly, I don't think I have a great voice, just maybe a good one. (I joke with the guys in the chorus that I'm still afraid they'll hear me singing on the risers and say, "Never mind, we were wrong, you're out of here!") But I can hold a pitch and sing the way they need me to -- and not mess up the choreography too much -- so here I am.

I'd love to get back to Denver again, but twice in one year, like I've done already (Spring Break vacation with kids and then the international convention with VM in June), is more than I've been back there since I lived there, so it's probably not happening soon. Sorry!

The new CD, "Believe," should be out around Thanksgiving. In the meantime, you can [good] hear a few snippets from previous CDs here, [better] search for "Vocal Majority" on YouTube and enjoy some of the videos of the group, or [best] come to Dallas and see us!! :D: :D: :D:

I have been to the website and heard some snippets of the music! It is wonderful! I am hoping the VM will come back to Denver soon! I will be purchasing that CD, you can bet! And, you have to sing well to be in the VM. Don't under rate yourself. You ARE good! :D:

Where are you in those pictures? I think I saw you in one!
