Earthquake

Post by Big Wallaby » Tue Oct 30, 2007 10:16 pm

Liz was online with some people in SFO, and they had to go because of an earthquake. Just want to make sure everyone's okay.

it was a 5.6 somewhere around San Jose.. but it really jolted a lot of my friends up there. I guess we need to give some times to let things settle but that sure was a big one (at least in a while).

Oh please!

Unless it's right beneath you, a 5.6 means you pick up your beer so it doesn't spill, then go back to drinking as usual.

I never even got out of bed for anything less than a 6.5.

And yes, 35 years in the quake state does qualify me to have an opinion... and an attitude.

aww Zazu they just don't have the STUFF you are made of.. dogs barking, houses rolling.. buildings jolting, and car alarms going off.. someone said it was 'worse (or as bad as) the Loma Prieta earthquake' so since I'm here in LA I can't really comment.

;)

It could not have been as bad as or worse than the Loma Prieta, That one broke the Bay Bridge. I lived in No Cal for 45 of my 53 years and earthquakes that small ain't nuthin. You have to be right on the epicenter to feel it. It might slosh the H20 in the fish tank and knock a few glasses around, but that is not a big earthquake. I have felt a few in my 45 years there, once while on the air with the mic on and doing the news. It was weird to see the counter where the control board was slide back and forth in front of me. I kept on reading the news and had a little extra story to add to the broadcast that hour! :D: I agree Zazu, I have an opinion and an attitude too. Hey, spending time in California, isn't it a prerequisite to having *attitude*? :p:
susi *I am so Miss Attitude* slicker

P.S. I do know that it does freak some people out and they cry like little girls and it can be pretty scary for kids, but that is not really *The Big One*...

I sleep through a 5.3....usually. :) 5.6 will wake me & I'll "think" abt getting up. If my dogs don't wake up then it's no big deal. :dog1: :dog5:

I love rolling quakes and anything under 7 on a roller or 6 on a jolter is just a rude interruption or fun ride.

And as San Jose was rockin and rollin', many were heard to yell,

"I'm comin', Lizbeth, This is the big one!"

Anyone? Anyone? Reference? I will be VERY disappointed if a few of you do not get this reference... :p:

I heard an interview with a bus driver from San Jose this morning on the radio (Yes, I still listen to the radio!!!!), and he was saying he felt his coach rocking back and forth and saw the light poles swaying. He was in San Jose near the epicenter of the tremblor.

OT for a sec...if anyone wants to hear the funniest radio show in the country in the morning, you must go to http://www.thefox.com and listen to Lewis and Floorwax from 6AM to 10AM Denver time. Please adjust for your very own time zone! At the website there is an icon, you can clicky on and hear them live! They stream the show online and they are so hilarious and irreverent! :D:
susislicker :p:

Now, Back to your regularly scheduled thread now in progress on StupidGuestTricks.com...
