Official SGT ADD thread

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

First of all, sorry for the confusing terms. Like we said before, it's a continuation of work and we sometimes forget that some of you don't work with us.

TMC is Transportation Management Co. the builder of the RTS bus. They are in Rosewell, NM of all places. The coordinator is the person at a hub that either dispatches the buses or controls the labor. In the case that BW was describing, the dispatcher (coordinator) stands out in a convenient place where they can see the loadzones and then dispatches a bus based on demand. The driver actually speaks face to face with the coordinator on visual dispatch so that's why the coordinator could hear BW.

Diesel is the call sign for the on duty mechanic or designate. Hughes is the heavy duty tow service that Disney uses to tow buses and VM South is Vehicle Maintenance - South location (as opposed to VM North). It is near FIW and that's where most of the serious work on a bus is done.

Unfortunately, 2749 was actually one of the better 2700 series buses. It was going to be retired soon, now it just went a little sooner than planned.
Thanks a bunch. I know how it is, I sometimes confuse people when talking about my job because I use work terms and we use a heck of a lot less terms than you do.

I also have to wonder why the mechanic was out there as there's not much he could have done in regards to a fire. Maybe he was in the shop bored and heard about the fire so decided to head out there to see what's going on.

Forget towing the bus to VM South, tow it directly to the dang scrap yard. I have a feeling there isn't much left of that bus.

I'm sure that 2749 will be canibalized before being scrapped. There are a bunch of old buses at VM South in various stages of canibalized states now. When all useful parts are gone, then Disney will get rid of them.

I also realized that I made an error on a translation. TMC is Transportation Manufacturing Co. not Transportation Management Co.. Sorry.

Anybody heard from our favorite driving marsupial today?? I'm guessing he is at Magic tonight for EMH. ( MK is open until 3am, I'm very happy I was at Epcot tonight)

You said VM South is near FIW but where is it in relation to it (north, south, etc.)? I'm trying to find it on Google Maps for the hell of it.

Is VM North the Transportation building behind the Magic Kingdom where the steam trains and monorails are housed or is that something else?

3am? Ouch. I'd hate to drive that shift but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Nah, I'm here. Yes, I was at Magic, but I was not there all night. I started at 2 yesterday afternoon, so I got off at 12:30 even with extending... the latest I could have gone was 2:30.

And sorry for using all the acronyms. As I tell people on the bus, CMs can turn anything into an acronym. So it just comes naturally.

VM is Vehicle Maintence and try Pluto Park LN on google. North east of the Magic Kingdom. Maybe you could fly over there and get a guided tour by the local friendly bus drivers.

That has a lengthy discussion about transportation and expecially busses. The guys seem to know what they are talking about.

One of the posters on the first page said this should help.

My friend from another site wants to take me to lunch on my birthday and Darph is coming to town so I want to meet him outside the park, way outside. Can someone arrange this? My car needs tires so I am postponing any long trips if possible.

I hate birthdays but not getting old. When Christmas is over and I get paid in January then I will be happy again.

Does anyone know where I put the aspirin, tax stuff, and half a bag of Fritos?

Oh look a smiley...

That is the monorail and steam engine house. Just above it (to the North), I believe, is the Christmas warehouse.

This is true, but the sewage processing and compost areas are markedly better from Google.
