But I Don't Want to Get Locked In!
So I was at Wishes ropes (around 8pm) a couple nights ago when I got this odd question:
SG: What time does the main enterance close?
CM: I'm Sorry? The park closes tonight at 9.
SG: But the main enterance... when does it close?
CM: Well they will stop letting people into the park before 9, I am not really sure exactly what time though.
SG: No to get out. What time do they close the main enterance for us to leave?
CM: Well we usually like for everyone to be out of the Magic Kingdom within an hour and a half or so of closing. The gates shouldnt close until all guests are out.
SG: So what time will the main enterance close tonight?
CM: *gives up at this point trying to explain* It will close at 10:30 so you want to make sure you're out by then!
I got this question about 30 minutes after getting asked what time the last tram in the parking lot runs. Was this like a conspiracy to camp it out in MK? Survivor: Main Street? I'd laugh if those two families ended up fighting it out to be the last ones in MK that night.

That was hilarious and actually the parks do not lock the gates until the last guest is confirmed out, lol. Done that at DLR too many times, lol. Slowly security would start at the farthest points and close in on Main Street.
You should have told them "The gates are locked at 10 pm and all guests still in the parks will be put to work for free for WDW for a month. That is how I got this job."

I always try to be at the gate at closing time, cuz I didn't want to get into trouble! Maybe one night this trip I will hang out a few minutes and try to get some good pics! I'll be in MK my last night there. Sounds like a good way to say good-bye!
I guess I'm stupid, but what is the goodnoght kiss?

Something that is worth seeing in every park, worth staying around for after fireworks. It'll be on your entertainment schedule, so don't miss it.MagicDream4Me wrote:I guess I'm stupid, but what is the goodnoght kiss?![]()
Basically, it's a simple light show to music and finally, an announcer (one with a soft voice, not that guy from the monorails with his over-bubbly voice) comes on the PA and wishes you a good night and a safe journey. Simple but elegant. Except when the street cleaners come down Main Street during Kiss Goodnight...
But Zazu got that one taken care of, so we're all good now. :)

WOW- Thanks BW! How have I missed that?
I am probably missing alot of stuff- huh? Oh well - I learn more each time and this year I am going to try and slow down the pace a little and try to find new things! 7 days just isn't enough. I don't think 7 weeks would be!
I hope I get to see you BW! Don't you drive to POP? We'll be there 13-20! :D: That's one new cool thing I did for this trip! I found this site and I may get to meet some CMs from here!

The only thing I can guarantee is what parks I work. Other than that, my job is really a wild card.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! :hysteria: Good one churchy!mechurchlady wrote:You should have told them "The gates are locked at 10 pm and all guests still in the parks will be put to work for free for WDW for a month. That is how I got this job."
Actually, semi-related to this thread: I remember reading, when I was a kid, that one of the most selective jobs in WDW, due to how few people they had doing it and how rarely people quit the job, was the scuba divers they had who would clean the submarine voyage. That was my dream job when I was little. To get to be in the park late at night when there's [relatively] nobody there, and further, to get to *dive* at night in the park! How cool would that be!! As a working adult, now of course, I realize that that job probably wasn't all that great, but to a kid, the magic of the park coupled with the mystery of night has a special appeal, I think.

Agreed. That's one reason the Cinderella Castle suite is such a big deal in the YOMD campaign.Kwahati wrote:.... I have to say, while apparently the Cinderella suite (and the Year of Million Dreams in general) was thrown together by marketing with little consultation about how to pull it off, it's been executed extremely well. What do you all think will happen when YOMD finally ends in a year (or two, or three...)? I could see them turning the suite into a pay-per-stay room for big $$$, but I think it more likely that it continues to be a freebie giveaway to draw people in. I don't see it staying empty, though. Any thoughts?

I wonder that myself a lot. I know I'll never be able to afford it, that's for sure. It's a great marketing device though, isn't it?
