Quote from a co-CM friend of mine who's a character host and apparently knows what happened:

'This event happened last year - that Pluto is no longer working with us. The kid being chased was rough-housing with Pluto before the camera rolled, and he did not kick Pluto at all. Pluto gave chase, and the kid started to wildly run. Pluto ran as well, which is not allowed, so that's strike one. The kid being chased started to REALLY get scared, and was screaming in earnest trying to get away. Pluto did not fully understand this. The woman who ran up and grabbed Pluto's arm was the child's mother. She demanded that he stop chasing her son, as it was no longer a game.

Pluto was angry that the woman had yanked his arm, and pulled back from her. That was strike two - he did not stop when a guest became in contact. He stepped off the curb and fell down. The woman did not push him, as he was already on the edge. However, he thought she HAD pushed him, and stood up with his paws in front of his face to show he was done. The guests in front of the camera were concerned, asking what happened, and Pluto pointed to the woman, "saying" she'd pushed him. The host then came over at this time to talk to the woman and find out the whole story. This Pluto was a very self-sufficent Pluto, who neither wanted nor needed a Host with him when he did his sets.

The falling down was strike three. However, the day in question was an exception. That Pluto decided to quit, citing that he was tired of the crowds and guests and stress it caused. The host in question was not at fault, as the host was told not to worry about Pluto and tended to the other characters. Pluto, however, took things too far on a hot day, with huge crowds, and a rowdy kid with a protective mom. The end.'

Wow. That's all new detail. Let's see, how does testimony fit into our plot development? I think Wombat's going to argue hearsay, so I guess we'll have to dismiss the facts of the case.

Pluto was kicked. I like that line. I think it's good siggy material :D:

@Gerbil - In reality, thank you for that info. Once you hit 464 posts, if we still like you and you properly qualify, perhaps we'll make you partner and the Marsupial Welcoming Committee will become the Marsupial and Rodent Welcoming Committee. Wombat will have one of the two final votes.

But for now, on behalf of the Marsupial Welcoming Committee, :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: from :wallaby: and :wombat: !

Only on SGT will you hear the facts and read the truth before any other site on the internet. Stay tuned for more rivetting strories on the SGT channel.

Thank you for the report. This can now be filed under CMs Who Got Fired.

Nah. First, we're not in court. Second, I'd have to be opposing him. Let's not over-lawyer this website too much!

I'm all for taking this slow. It won't mean much unless you have had to work for it, as any lawyer who's made partner in his firm can tell you.

Besides, if we start expanding who is eligible for membership in the Marsupial Welcoming Committee, where will it end? The Mammal Welcoming Committee? The Vertebrate Welcoming Committee? Will we eventually have to accept slugs and roaches??? :)

I could tell Pluto was angry by his body language, which is usually strike four unless the kid has done something really extreme. I did four years of having people yank my tail, kick me, push me, and mob me (not at Disney though) so I speak "character" pretty well. If he wasn't smart enough to tell when enough was enough, I say good riddance! I always hate the tendency by the parks to believe anyone who doesn't pass out from the heat or isn't clausterophobic can be a character. It's acting, and I don't enjoy seeing the characters who just stand still doing nothing, or who take the opposite approach and overact. I worked with a guy who was a sports mascot (which does require overacting) and he was constantly scaring the heck out of the kids with his frantic movements. The problem was, the managers thought he was perfect and wanted all of us to be just like him. I was really good in costume, and could convey whatever feeling the character I was playing was supposed to inspire, and I could get even the most shy or frightened child to come up to have their picture with me at the same time. Ah, the long lost art!

If the Marsupial Welcoming Committee expands to include rodents, I would think that a rat would be invited before a gerbil

It just struck me that one of us marsupials already works for a Mouse.

Okay, you're right... the BCWC (Breathing Creature Welcoming Committee) does have its drawbacks, so all non-marsupials are not welcome to make partner at this time. After a lenghty, closed-door meeting involving heavy booze, I have been brought to see the light.
