I'm the guy that got posted about the quadruple fastpasses on new year's day. I used FP+, my ticket media, my key to the world card and a key to the world card from Oct 2012 (room only) and they all worked to get me fastpasses. Had a pretty good day actually !

I'm all about exploiting bugs and loopholes! :pirate:

FP+ was really great for us though. We went to rope drop and rode without FP until about 10:30 am, then had our FP+s set for the busy times in the afternoon.

So, I'm seeing that traditional Fastpasses have been ended in AK and MK. That's unfortunate. When I was last there I used FastPass+ but over the course of 8 days in the parks, I also used regular FastPass 3 times to smooth over rough spots. Since I didn't realize that regular Fastpasses were going away completely, I enjoyed my FastPass+ experience. Knowing now that the FastPass+ will be it, I'm not really that happy.

The rough spots involved the fact that my wife and I are park hoppers. Always have been, always will be. FastPass+ is currently limited to 3 FPs in one park each day. It isn't uncommon for us to visit AK first thing and use a FP for the Safari, then to visit Epcot and go for a FP for Soarin' toward the end of the day. Now we have no way to do that.

I wouldn't mind the 3 FP limit if they could be in multiple parks, but honestly, base don our preferences and the line length of various attractions, we almost never want 3 FP in a single park. WIth the old system and our touring habits, we quite often get a single FP in a day, and almost never 3, but we were still able to do everything we wanted to. Now we would not be able to do that unless we radically changed the way we tour.

Hopefully they will adjust over time.

Since this topic became more about FP+ and MM+ rather than Stupid Guest Tricks, I moved it to the Break Room.

Also, it has been pointed out that getting additional FP beyond the 3 you can get with FP+ is against DIsney Policy. Since I did, in fact, use regular FP on the same day I had used FP+ it would seem I worked around that policy, albeit in ignorance. My research on FP+ on the DIsney website didn't make me aware of the policy.

Sicne I always try to avoid being a stupid guest, I'm big on following the rules. So, we should keep this discussion within the bounds of appropriate use of the services as defined by Disney policy.

mea culpa

Here’s what happens when a data scientist goes to Disney World.

One thing Foreman explained in his post was the fact that Magic Bands contain a long-range antenna as well as a short-range RFID chip.
Okay, so I'm not sure I get this. Is he saying that the RFID chip is hooked up to a long range broadcast antenna? If the RFID chip identifies you to the system, the only way to do long range tracking, I would think, would be to broadcast the information from the chip. Or are there really two IDs on the band, one for financial/Fastpass transactions and one for straight up locating?

Anybody have any thoughts?

It doesn't have to broadcast anything but an ID, that is linked to the person on the servers.
