DEc 15, 1995 - July 8, 2013
What started out as a lab exercise at DEC turned into the best search engine for it's time. Properly supported it could have been Google before Google came into being. AltaVista had many owners who never spent the money to keep it up to date. The final owner, Yahoo!, sent it to it's grave.
Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.
